Nov 18, 2023 https://9to5mac.com/2023/11/16/apple-rcs-coming-to-iphone/ the same year Apple switches the iPhone to USBC, they also announce the switch to RCS as the default fallback to iMessage! this comes amid pressure from the EU about making iMessage sort of an open source, as well as Nothing finding a way to put iMessage on their phone. with RCS as the default fallback on iMessage, iOS users and Android users will be able see each others' typing indicators, read receipts, send pictures and videos at a decent quality, and hopefully also have end to end encryption.
Nov 18, 2023 I love iPhone but I hate the typing indicators. I don’t want people knowing when I’m typing. I also turn off my read receipts. I don’t wanna deal with people bitching at me because I didn’t respond to their stupid a--- message
Nov 18, 2023 Typing indicators can be turned off on RCS. I have it turned on, but I turned off read receipts

Jun 12, 2024 I know you are joking but that is literally what happened. SMS was created way back in the 90s, which Apple still uses as a fallback even today until iOS 18 releases.
Jun 12, 2024 I was being serious. Kind of embarrassing it's taken them this long. Literally risked security and convenience just to keep android and ios separate
Sep 17, 2024 well, it's here. if y'all got an iPhone, update to iOS 18, and start texting those green bubbles back.
Sep 17, 2024 I updated earlier. Tbh most people I text are on iPhone already so this isn’t a big change for me lol
Sep 17, 2024 oh yeah, it may not move the needle for everyone whose got only other iPhone users in their contacts but for those in the big mix of both, this is a start of (hopefully) I big riptide. I have a Pixel 8 pro & my wife has the iPhone 14 pro, I got her to upgrade to the beta, so we've gotten to enjoy all the features of cross RCS functionality between iOS & Android all summer long
Sep 17, 2024 That’s true. This should’ve happened a long time ago tbh. The divide between iPhone users and Android users was always weird and pointless
Sep 17, 2024 9 out of 10 teenagers in the US have iPhones. when those kids grow up, they ain't switching to Android if all they've ever known is iMessage, which you can bet your a--- is the reason why Apple's got a monopoly over here. hopefully Apple gets forced to change the color of the RCS bubble to purple eventually
Sep 17, 2024 I’m sure that number went up once they started selling cheaper versions of the iPhones as well so not all of the iPhone options are $1000+
Sep 17, 2024 the 9 out of 10 figure is relatively recent, from 2022. iPhones have been $1,000 since 2017, but their budget line (the SE line) has been available since before that too. also, kids be getting spoiled as f--- these days. you'll catch a brat with an iPhone 16 pro max and I wouldn't be surprised.
Sep 17, 2024 Oh d---. I think some parents give their kids phones wayyyyyyy too early. I guess it would be better if the parent regulated and monitored them but most don’t do that either. Plus giving a kid a $1000 phone is foolish, they could easily break it
