Jun 2, 2017 I was wondering if I should keep it at 8 tracks or add 2 more tracks? It's an EP so I guess 8 is passable but idk what do you guys think, is 8 a good amount for a project?
Jun 2, 2017 8 is already album length tbh if the songs are on average 3-4 minutes, 10 is just a classic formula though so maybe you wanna go w/ that although i think for a smaller artist short and sweet is definitely the best way to go try to keep your project the least bloated it could possibly be cant even stress enough how important that is edit: i also think releasing a full length project rather than an ep is a smart choice there's a certain level of professionalism and satisfaction that lacks from an ep listen imho. Not always though obviously a lot of amazing eps out there but if you already got 8 songs i say do an album
Jun 3, 2017 i would add 0 filler to a debut so if you got 8 that you're solid with just release it as whatever you want to release it as earl has released like 2 30 minute albums dont feel like u needa call it an EP just because you feel its short that stuff barely matters these days
Jun 4, 2017 Honestly it's more of an album than an EP, I guess I kinda just went with the EP thing as a stylistic choice like Kendrick did with Overly Dedicated (which felt more like a mixtape than an EP)
Jun 4, 2017 Yea cutting the filler has been my main objective as of late. I agree, I might drop the EP part of the title then.
Jun 4, 2017 Yea dude or even if u feel like its not an EP like who curr tbh at this point if you're past 4 songs and 12 minutes you're qualified for an album. Dont feel restricted to call it an EP. IDLSIDGO by earl was 29 mins like i said before, that s--- was considered a full album. dont feel any pressure to label yourself in any way u dont want to right now. U got 8 songs, you're over 12 minutes (im assuming) so just go for it. Whatever you want to call it its your artistic call tbh.
Jun 4, 2017 Nah definitely not, I put too much work into this project to ever dare call it a "playlist"
