In this series we discuss and vote on who we think the best rapper was/is for every year since 1980. There will be a poll that contains every rapper that released a project during that year. The series will start with 1980 in another thread which I will create after this is posted.

Could just count the votes and announce the winner in the next post. We did this before with best albums and it worked fine.

Fair enough. I think we should have separate threads and keep updating the results in this thread. We'll start doing it that way after the 1980 thread closes

Alright, let's just ignore the 1980 thread and start here. Who's the best rapper of 1980? Vote for one rapper. The vote will close in 24 hours

It should be rappers who actually released a project in any given year, so leave Future out of this for now

Just looked at the 1980 in hip hop and only ones that released an album that year are Kurtis Blow and Sugarhill g---. So Sugarhill g--- has my vote.

    I'm going with kurtis blow

Btw I think voting shouldn't depend on if an album was released...take into acc between album years but base it on guest appearances

Like u could argue so and so was the best alive on a non album year cause their guest appearances along with their last record

Ok I mean for future reference like a lot of people say Kdot is the best alive 2014 or 2016 even if he didn't release a record
