Big L was better at rapping but Guru had better content and along with Premier made better music

guru was part of more great music by volume, obviously, and i'd say at their peak g--- starr was better than any big l record –– and that peak lasted two, two and a half albums. l is the more acrobatic rapper, but guru has become underrated as the years go on. i might go guru.

It really depends on what aspect OP means when he says 'vs'

As g--- Starr w/ Premier Guru made a lot of music superior to Big L imo. Timeless songs

Big L on the other hand was easily more skilled as a rapper than Guru was.

I love Big L and rank him as one of the top talents ever but g--- Starr at their best musically way higher than L ever was

This exactly. Rapping wise it’s really no comparison, Big L is in the upper echelon of elite emcees.

But g--- Starr was fortunate to be around much longer than Big L and were able to drop some solid albums. Plus their greatest hits album Full Clip is f---ing ridiculously good. That record has so many timeless songs that really capture the classic 90s era New York sound.

It's an unfair comparison. Guru's catalog is way more extensive than L's. Guru was also a better overall songwriter. L's greatest strength was punchlines but those don't hold up nearly as well when going up against superior content.

yeah but we can compare their rapping skill using the amount of material they have. L has a album he released when he was alive which displayed his skill. Also freestyles and tracks he recorded before he died

In my opinion L was a better Lyricist but I think Guru had a better flow and deeper lyrics
