Dec 23, 2020 I've seen a bit of discourse on how this album should have been handled and thought this would be a good place to round up thoughts Be sure to leave an explanation for your votes in the thread! P.S. shout outs to @Captain Awesome AKA Papa for helping me on my quest for the godflame
Dec 23, 2020 Nahh, it's not different enough, doesn't really have that much of a different vibe from the first Murdered By. I think the wording of the album is godawful, "Side B DELUXE EDITION" is bleh Could have just called it "Side B" and would have been miles better.
Dec 23, 2020 I agree mostly maybe the wording of deluxe was just to categorize it as the same album idk
Dec 23, 2020 It's a deluxe album meant to balance out the entire course of work it's not meant to be a standalone album.
Dec 23, 2020 Nah its fine as a double disc, I dont think most of it is a different body of work even. It wouldnt make sense to release the same album with different songs. Actually the only style I think is entirely new is the one on gnat.
Dec 23, 2020 It's a little odd when in the intro to side b hitchcock literally says music to be buried by
Dec 23, 2020 Yeah that’s making the biggest difference for the most of it, it’s the calmer voice and a bit different delivery same as his features after the release of side a, witch I believe we’ll see more in the next studio album
Dec 23, 2020 I believe we'll see more of it as well he seems to like to give a somewhat different sound to almost all of his albums
Dec 24, 2020 i voted option #2, deluxe. despite the length its clearly intended as a reissue/companion project.. so for historical purposes, its not a proper album, its the same as Refill. sorry everyone!
Dec 25, 2020 Could’ve called it Music To Be Buried By as the 2nd installment in the series but it makes just as much sense being side B. The deluxe label makes the title a lot more convoluted but it obv just encompasses the whole collection.
Dec 25, 2020 Should of been called “music 2 be murdered by: Side B” And the gnat video should of been out a week before the album.
Dec 25, 2020 YES, also should have been named Music To Be Buried By, release it in January 2021 with proper promotion and the good ol' Em album rollout, and put out Zeus as the first single 1 or 2 weeks prior to album release. oh and scrap She Loves Me or leave it as an iTunes bonus track
Dec 27, 2020 No, because it would feel like listenning to the same thing twice. It's the same project so he did well, this way it closes the "MTBMB" chapter and we can move on (I hope) from Em rapping about critics and (so called) fans being mad at anything he does. He needs new topics and I can't wait to see what he does with his next album. As soon as I saw side B and the cover I knew what to expect already so imagine if he actually made it another album ?! would have been a disappointment for me.
Dec 27, 2020 It’s fine as a deluxe. Aside from the intro, it plays as a standalone sequel album... but I think most of it only major Eminem fans will be into... let it be viewed as an expansion on the first. It doesn’t really matter.
