DRAKE: 2 MILLION IN VIEW?
With YMCMB/Republic’s Drake hitting on Friday, it’s anticipated the megastar will have a massive first week, with some insiders asking if Views could debut with two million.

The set will be an Apple exclusive for the first seven days of release, with physical product expected as soon as the exclusive lifts. You’ll recall that Cupertino handed Drizzy a $19m check a while back, and the artist was on hand for the launch of Apple Music. The tech behemoth, which is sponsoring Drake’s forthcoming Summer Sixteen trek (its first “presented” tour), is believed to be very much in the driver’s seat of the album rollout.

Meanwhile, Drake single “One Dance” is one of three new tracks streamable on Spotify, and it’s been atop most of the service’s charts ever since, garnering some 33m global streams in the last week. “One Dance” has also sold briskly, withstanding assaults on the iTunes leaderboard by Prince and Beyoncé.

The rollout strategy is very similar to Interscope's windowing on Gwen Stefani and using Spotify to let the world know about new music from The 1975. Is this the new UMG game plan?

His last 3 albums Relapse, Recovery, The MMLP 2 sold 800K mark first week he can easily to this day do those numbers first week with the right single like Not Afraid

That was because Em return hype lol.

Recovery did like 750k and it leaked 2 weeks early
MMLP2 did 800k and it leaked 3 days before. Thats his limit now, hes losing relevancy as time goes on

Recovery sold more in the long run though. He's not getting more than 800k these days

Idk, will be difficult to do considering it's an apple only exclusive for the 1st week. To me it's more impressive to do a milli in physicals anyway.

yeah and it leaked 2 weeks earlier. People really dug recovery because the pop feel so they brough it. MMLP2 had hype because of the name but barely sold more than Recovery. Not Afraid + LYWYL > Monster & Berzerk

Recovery has sold 16 million worldwide and 5 million in the U.S.

Two singles from the album were the first to ever Digitally sell 10 million copies each and go Diamond in the history of music

Would have been nice if he did sell 2 million first week but 16 million sold overall. Eminem's laughing to the bank
