Dec 2, 2017 And even Encore was decent. Few 10/10 songs in there. Other than his 3 classics, Recovery and MMLP 2 are solid 7's
Dec 2, 2017 Music is subjective. MMLP2 is easily his worst album. Revival could be a lot like Walk On Water and still be better than MMLP2.
Dec 2, 2017 I agree Recovery is a solid 7, even nudging towards an 8, tbh. It's very solid. MMLP2 though... weird one. Maybe like a weak 7 and it's almost like a different kind of 7, because the album is such a shambles. The quality of the material is higher, but 'as an album' it's one of his worst. At least Encore tracks felt like they were made for the same CD.
Dec 2, 2017 Agreed, but I don’t even count a Encore as a bad album, only a mediocre/average one, cuz like you said, there’s some gems on it.
Dec 3, 2017 It's all based on your own taste though. I hated Recovery, to pop focussed and barely any classic songs at all. While MMLP2 still has a couple. I love Rhyme or Reason, So Much Better (classic Em!), Love Game (classic storytelling Em), Bad Guy (allthough it clearly shows his decline if you compare it to Stan) and a couple more while i can barely remember anything from Recovery aside from Going Through Changes (feels like an unwanted Deja Vu sequel though).
Dec 3, 2017 Yeah that's implied though. I don't see any need for us to all walk around constantly stating 'but it's just opinion', 'just my opinion', 'it's all subjective', 'it's just taste'... We know, lol. I hear even really smart people, and artists, say this kind of s--- - and they say it like it's the first time it's been said, and it's needed - or original. We know it's taste and we know taste is subjective. So we may as well just say our thoughts & feelings and debate them, I'm not saying my taste is a scientific fact. I thought I downgraded Recovery to the same degree as you though. But I just listened the other day for the first time in a while, and it was a very solid listen. It was very consistent; a consistent experience. I'd definitely disagree GTC is the only classic song too... I'd also say "Cold Wind Blows", "WTP", "Space Bound", "Cinderella Man", "Almost Famous" too. And the rest are still enjoyable. Like I say - I agree MMLP2 has higher highs. The great songs are great; "So Much Better" is classic Em, in a way, in terms of the sound, but it does not fit at ALL with the rest of the album. There's nothing on Recovery which stands out like that. It all gels. On MMLP2, there's many tracks where it's like 'wtf?'. They were made for a different album/era/purpose. "So Much Better" sounds like it could fit better next to "Puke" or on TES somewhere, but nowhere fkn near "Rhyme or Reason". Or on MMLP2. MMLP2 is top 2 worst of his albums, as an album. Not for the tracks, but as an album - it's an absolute mess. I honestly just cannot understand how him, Dre & Rubin put together that tracklist and thought "yep. That's coherent". Like, wtf. How do they not hear what we hear.
Dec 3, 2017 Recovery was actually a really cohesive album like you say. Em sounds f---in cool on it too, in a way he doesn’t on LP2. I think Legacy and Rap God are classic tracks though, with only GTC in that bracket on Recovery (ignoring LTWYL and Monster which were pop Em classic).
Dec 3, 2017 imho SSLP 9/10 MMLP 10/10 TES 10/10 Encore 6.5/10 (average to good) it has some classic songs in it but f---ing big weenie, a--- like that, my 1st single completely ruin the d--- album Relapse 8/10 the best delivery we had since his comeback, his flow, rhyme-sceme perfect. The album lacked of content though Recovery 7.5 it was an album i think nobody expected from Eminem. I think it was his last project which he didn't use the choppy flow, he could keep up with the beats well. No fast rappity rap or lyrical miracle s--- there. Also an album with content. Going Throuch Changes, Seduction, Talkin To Myself, No Love, Space Bound all amazing songs MMLP2 6/10, when he announced we all lost our s---, we thought we were gonna get a classic cause it would be a Sequel to MMLP but no. It wasn't a bad project but it was a let down. even though his rhyming ability was still at the highest level he couldn't ride the beats, the production was bad as h---.
Dec 3, 2017 the only bad album is encore, i dont care how many gems are on it, when we talk about albums we mean the tracklist front to back.. And no one can tell me that he ever put out a worst run like from ''my first single'' to ''a--- like that'' ever on an album (and thats like half of the songs lol)
