i use to use playlists for random s--- like old 90's/00's grunge and then i used s--- built in like top 25 most played. also had an edm playlist to add onto everytime i found something new i really liked that fit

not much use in it now though when 90% of the music i listen to is my own

Don't use them except when it's for a party etc. I either listen to an album or just all music on shuffle

    It depends on the occasion

If I'm working out, I just throw tracks together randomly

But usually if it's anything else, I try to place them in an order that'll make the songs flow good

I do it by season. Haha no joke, like winter 2015 or summer 2012 then I just shuffle them. It's a great way to look back at your music and nostalgia lol

this is a good idea, and ive tried to do this but then i start letting s--- slip into playlists that was around the time and then i keep letting more and more in that was farther and farther just cause it sounded like the time and then suddenly my rules for the playlist end up waaaaaaay too lax and it falls apart. also really hard for me since most music I listen to I'm l8 on and don't know precisely when it actually came out and I'm just like fk it at that point

I feel ya brother. I'm 24 and have been making seasonal playlists since I was 16. I have ALL of them saved still and it is so fun looking back at the different songs. I often throw in old songs into the new playlists if I'm feeling them and I have a select few songs that never leave my playlists. Like for fall 2015 I still have songs from last year and some I always keep like cartoon and cereal, the rain, rabbit run, etc.

My iTunes is all organized by genre, year and everything. I start with smart playlists separating rap from non rap, then break down more playlists by certain years or decades. Also have certain sub genres of non rap organized to their own lists.
