I'm sure we can agree the Hotline Bling memes boosted the popularity of it. But how good is the music industry at doing this? It feels like very soon everyone will be using memes to make themselves be exposed more. A meme can be anonymously created, ppl slap their instagrams and twitters all over them already but you still don't know who made them. Who's to say a large percentage of the Hotline Bling memes weren't created by Drakes team? As long as it's funny, it will spread like crazy. How far can this form of marketing go? How far will it go? What do you think of it? Do you lose respect for the artist? I just respect the marketing but I'm curious on everyone else's thoughts

Why would anyone lose respect for an artist just cause they were featured in a few memes/make meme music ? :what22:

It really depends on the execution imo. When it's done well I have no problem with it

nothing if the song is good but in many cases they are not. Hotling Bling is terrible for example.

The video made the memes guys, not the song. Hotline Bling is any ordinary song. The video is intended to be memed.
