Dec 6, 2015 http://metro.co.uk/2015/12/06/idris...-its-way-because-its-full-of-ballers-5547725/ Idris Elba thinks US hip hop has lost its way because the rappers think they’re ‘ballers’ Idris Elba thinks grime music is better than US hip hop, because US hip hop artists are more concerned with making "stupid amounts of money" The 43-year-old actor, who also produced music and performs DJ sets, stuck the knife in during an interview with The Guardian. He told the paper: "To me, grime is the purest form of hip-hop in the world at the moment because it comes from a place of: “We are who we are and we aspire to be this.” "I feel close to that. That’s where US hip-hop lost some of its way because now it’s like: “We’re all ballers and we all make stupid amounts of money.”‘ Do you agree or disagree with his statement?
Dec 6, 2015 I partially agree, but for the most part disagree. I don't think you could take an entire genre and say "oh it's got too much of this" especially when it's in a way part of that culture. I'd agree though that there is maybe too many rappers renting chains/cars/grillz and rapping as if they are billionaires. shame you don't like it
