Apr 14, 2018 ''Walk on Water'' is a very humbling song. ''Framed'' sounds like ''3 AM.'' So you have a little ''Relapse'' on Revival. But the last 3 songs of the album sound kinda like ''When I'm Gone'' on Curtain Call. How can you take Framed seriously when he presented a different side of him on Walk on Water? He has too many different personals on Revival. Maybe he needs to pick one persona and blend in a few songs. SSLP all the songs sounded similar. MMLP same, although Stan was a bit different. TES, most songs sound similar with a couple funny songs. Encore, they sound similar too for the most part even though he sounded kind of uninspired. Relapse sounds pretty together except for Beautiful and Crack a Bottle. Recovery sounds together for the most part, but there were too many pop songs. MMLP2 sorta sounds like a mixed bag. I couldn't really tell it was a sequel to MMLP. In some ways it felt like it was, in other ways not at all. I like a lot of different elements on Revival but am confused with which one his HIM. Is he just a complex character now?
Apr 14, 2018 He definitely had a interview where he said he wanted to add every element from each album on to revival . Delete thread.
Apr 14, 2018 Why would anyone take Framed seriously in the first place? Do you think Em wrote that song with any other intention than to be silly/have fun? Putting that to the side, why would he not present different sides of himself throughout the album? Hate to burst your bubble, but human beings are often complex and not one dimensional. Just because he released one introspective song in Walk on Water doesn't mean he's in a state of constant doubt and is sad 24/7. In fact, I would argue that "silly Em" is when he's at his most authentic.
Apr 14, 2018 It's because this album has everything for every kind of fan. It has introspective s--- like "Walk On Water" "Castle" "Arose" that his older fans would love and it's something that screams prime Eminem. "Believe" and "Chloraseptic" who want Trapinnem instead of Eminem. "Framed" for fans of horrorcore based Slim Shady alter ego. "Heat" and "Remind Me" for ones who want some silly rock bangers. (They both dumpster trash tho) And the rest of the poppy s--- for the ones who like Recovery, mostly his female fans.
Apr 15, 2018 Another thing to that is weird is Eminem called himself a God in the MMLP2. And in Walk on Water he says he's just a man.
Apr 15, 2018 Revival was all over the place that's what made MMLP2 the better album because it was the same theme throughout the whole CD
Apr 17, 2018 Who f---ing cares. Whole album sucks. No artist has ever fallen off as hard as Eminem, or hit his lows musically, except for maybe Shifty Shellshock.
Apr 18, 2018 There were a lot of callbacks and the core theme on the album was celebrating his career and legacy. Brainless is a good example. I couldn't see Eminem writing Brainless in 2000 BUT it channels that energy into his current style. "Who woulda thunk that one lil lone MC would take the whole culture and reuphoster it" <-- the album is littered with little bits like this that celebrate his accomplishments and his place as a pop culture villain. MMLP is the album that really solidified that identity for him and MMLP2 reflects on that a lot. The songs are not -literally- as violent, aggressive and f--- the world as MMLP was but they make you remember those moments and that's what makes them cool. That, and a ton of MMLP2 songs are just dope as s--- on their own. I think its only grown on me more since Revival, lol
Apr 18, 2018 Yup. Just like it's weird to have "Rhyme or Reason" and "Stronger Than I Was" on the same album. These are two completely different personas, styles, sounds, styles of writing... people. It's bizarre and sounds stupid. As does Walk on Water + Framed. Unfortunately... He doesn't seem to realise this now.
