May 24, 2017 I ask this because I've been listening to the song and I've noticed a couple of things... 1. The beat is nice but it feels like it was built for Drake and Drake alone. Listening to it in detail, it sounds a bit russian and a bit sinister meaning that Views must of had a different concept then what was released. I know I'm going off-topic but Drake either must of redone the album to make a more poppy "Take Care" or he must of lost interest in the initial concept (which does explain the IYRTITL mixtape). 2. Drake's verse has nothing to do with Meek Mill's verse. All he's talking about is people doubting him, wanting to betray him, girls and how generous he is... I'm guessing the only new part he recorded was the "Hit em with the R.I.C.O." chorus since Meek Mill only appears on the second part of the verse. 3. I don't feel like Drake and Meek Mill were in the same studio when this song was recorded. This raises a lot of questions about what happened between the two... Here's my theory, Drake must of been using Meek for his own endgame and when he listened to Meek k--- his own track (his bars reference his struggles and legal corruption in a clever way), he knew that he would be a threat so Drake did what Drake did, mindgame the f--- out of him... This is 100% theory/speculation but it is an interesting theory. Makes even more sense when you look at each other's context. (Drake feels betrayed by Meek while Meek felt like Drake betrayed him.) and you actually listen to the song and compare the song to IYRTITL. @Soldier @Poohdini I know you two are on opposite ends here but I really want to know if anything about this theory is true. This isn't about the artists, it's about something which I think might be an interesting factoid. If Views had that concept, it would of been his classic but instead we got the Views that s----d but somehow made him untouchable. Shame since I had some hope he would not be a product of the industry (who do you think is feeding the most money into Drake) and actually do some stuff like Kanye West did back then. Call the theory weird, call me weird, discuss below.
May 24, 2017 Dunno bout Views throwaway (probably IYRTITL) but it was most likely a Drake song considering that Quentin Miller was involved and that it was produced by Vinylz. It probably had 2 drake verse as well. Meek Mill must have heard the song and bought it off him, this aint' really rare he bought Offended from Young Thug and 21 bought "X" from Future
May 24, 2017 of all things why did you write 6 paragraphs on this your answer is no lock thread make op mod or something so he has something to do
May 24, 2017 Was in Drake's recycle bin until Meek called and asked for a feature. That's it. Same thing he did with Blessings for Big Sean and other songs/artists in years prior.
May 24, 2017 21 bought X off of Future? And u sure Meek bought Offended off of Thug? They're pretty close with each other and always in the studio together so that'd be surprising to me.
May 24, 2017 Yeah, he mentions that it was originally a future song with more verses. They just stripped his verses down
May 24, 2017 Yeah, the version without Meek Mill called "I Might" isn't fan made its the OG version. I remember Murda had it up on his Soundcloud.
May 24, 2017 Oh forget what I said about the track being "bought" @Soldier I probably shouldn't have said it like that. It's very possible that they just gave the tracks away for free lol
May 24, 2017 @tpk it is a Views throwaway. Meek pretty much confirms it in an interview before the beef happened (i'll try to find it). Basically, when he was making his album, he wanted drake to hop on it. So he hit up Drake asking for a feature and Drake sent him the R.I.C.O beat with his verse and chorus already on there. Meek liked it so he just recorded his verse and slapped it on there. After it had already made the cut for his album is when he found out that Q.M. helped Drake write parts of the song. Start @ 4:20
May 24, 2017 Well... My childhoood belief is gone but it's for the best anyway, who wants to believe in the tooth fairy or santa claus? Just really disappointed in the fact that he gives artists throwaways (good ones I admit) instead of actually doing something for them. I should of really supported Meek instead of Drake, Meek knows how to deal with people and support the culture and that's all I'm going to say.
May 24, 2017 Yeah, that's why the beef was just hella stupid. Meek got butt hurt because he claimed drake had someone ghost write his RICO verse but that song was entirely drake's song. It was made with the intent to go on Views, not to go on Meek's album. Meek asked him for a feature and Drake just threw him a bone and basically gave him a whole song.
May 24, 2017 Maybe Thug gave it to him for free since they're friends but it was a Thug song with a 21 feature, the original version even leaked. The same thing happened with Backboard.
May 24, 2017 At the time I think he'd started to get a feeling Meek was kind of a snake, if you follow the timeline of RICO and Meek getting in his feelings about Drake not tweeting about his album that Drake was featured on, it probably wasn't more than a month apart.
May 24, 2017 Well, there goes my interest in the beef. Not because of that, but because it's more of a "who's more of a snake" thing and I can't decide anymore though I'm on Meek's side since Drake does more bad things for the culture than good.
May 24, 2017 either way, it was a great song...probably my favorite Meek Mill song ever and top 3 favorite Drake song
May 24, 2017 throwaway or not, R.I.C.O is hard as f---, the beat on that song is one of my favorites by far
