According to MediaTakeOut.com Jay Z is currently in negotiations to buy Hot 97 radio station

After the recent rants from NYC’s top DJ Funkmaster Flex calling out Hip Hop mogul Jay Z, the atmosphere in the Big Apple is heavy, in anticipation for the response from Jay Z’s camp. Well it has officially been reported, by a MediaTakeOut.com exclusive, that Jay Z is in negotiations to buy one of NYC’s #1 radio stations Hot 97.

According to MediaTakeOut.com:

According to a ROCK SOLID SOURCE – Shawn “Jay Z” Carter along with a group of investors that includes NY Knicks star Carmelo Anthony are currently NEGOTIATING TO BUY Hot 97 radio station. Talks are still early, but we’re told that both sides have HIRED LAWYERS and INVESTMENT BANKERS – and are serious in getting a deal done.

Could these negotiations be the real catalyst for Funkmaster Flex‘s rants, or did the beef over the Dipset reunion prompt the purchase of “New York’s #1 station for Hip Hop & RnB”?

well it seems Paul Rosenberg decision to get a Sirius satellite channel was great for EM money investments...with Shade45

will see if Jay-Z going into Hot97 will have same effect...even though its not Sirius channel

I never could stand Funk Flex, people say DJ Khaled screaming We The Best on every song was bad but this guy won't even allow you to hear half of what he puts out without r-----ed sound effects every other bar. Whoo Kid's on my shitlist too for that

It doesn't seem to make sense businesswise and I doubt Jay will spend that much just to ether stupid Flex. That would seem like a total overreaction on Jay's part. He's probably going to keep silence, then put Flex in his place with a line in a song or in an interview. This is how Jay has been dealing with people who have issue with him (since like the Nas beef?). Also Jay is too proud of his business acumen and making money that he wouldn't buy a radio business in today's market. Hot97 is on a serious decline with Power 105 taking more position. Don't forget Angie is Jay's girl (signed to him), but she's now on Power too. Acquiring Hot97 just doesn't make sense for Jay.
