John Lennon vs Paul McCartney

If The Beatles never existed, who would've developed a more successful and fruitful career?

    Undoubtedly the two biggest influences in Pop history (next to MJ ) , this two songwriters had very different styles when singing and composing.
    Every Beatles fan, can almost recognize immediately which song has been written by whom ( even though every song states it was co-written due to prior agreement) as their styles were marked in the sounds they produced.

    Some examples of Lennon-written The Beatles songs:
    • Happiness is a Warm Gun (my fav beatle song ever)
    • A Day in Life
    • Strawberry Fields
    Some examples of McCartney written songs:
    • Yesterday
    • Hey Jude
    • For No One
    It is undeniable that choosing between one or another is kind of stupid since they were good thanks to the band and vice-versa, defined,complemented and improved their styles according to the joint work and band influence .

    However, taking that into account doesn't limit us to ask ourselves :
    If The Beatles never existed, how far would they had gone as solo artists?
    Who would've developed a more successful and fruitful career?

    In my personal opinion, even though Paul McCartney is my favorite Beatle (he has a better voice)... I think John had an extra value to add to the table and that is '' political controversial views and a deeper philosophical questioning of the world'', which makes him unique for the time.
    All of that combined with a touch of rebellion (Revolution, Imagine< Give Peace a Chance...) which can be seen in his post-Beatles work, would make him groundbreaking anyways.

    So, feel free to discuss, fantasize about a non-Beatles reality....

    TL:DR - If The Beatles never existed, who would've developed a more successful and fruitful career? Lennon or McCartney?

    I've heard 3 or 4 albums of theirs but cant rmemeber names of any of them cause i was on acid

    Is that why they are considered one of the greatest and influential Artists of all time. I aint even a fan of there music but I still recognize how great they are.
