Sep 9, 2018 This is how I've been listening to the album tbh. Critique my curation down below fam. Tracklist: 01. The Ringer 02. Greatest 03. Lucky You (feat. Joyner Lucas) 04. Paul (Skit) -> Skits in 2018 lol 05. Normal 06. Em Calls Paul (Skit) -> Ditto 07. Stepping Stone -> Clearly an older song 08. Not Alike (feat. Royce da 5'9") 09. Fall 10. Kamikaze 11. Nice Guy (feat. Jessie Reyez) -> I don't need anymore Em songs with random chicks on the chorus 12. Good Guy (feat. Jessie Reyez) -> Ditto 13. Venom (Music From the Motion Picture) -> I think this was just a flex tbh. Belongs on Recovery or something.
Sep 9, 2018 That's pretty much how I listen to this album. Made a custom playlist. Except I kept Stepping Stone and got rid of Normal and Kamikaze.
Sep 9, 2018 Stepping Stone is a highlight, but it's so out of place emotionally and what not. I think Normal is underrated. He tries a lot of stuff on the song with his flow and delivery that I admire.
Sep 9, 2018 Stepping Stones was definitely recorded recently despite it sounding TES-like. Would love to hear more recorded in this style The third verse gives it away—he sticks to the same rhyme scheme from the end of the second verse throughout the whole of the third. That’s the writing of modern-day Em Not to mention he says ‘barely charting myself’. Pretty sure this whole album was recorded from December 2017 to July/August this year
Sep 9, 2018 Regardless it's too emotionally taxing and aesthetically different than the other songs to flow properly imo.
Sep 9, 2018 that last verse was definitely on some Kings Never Die s---. Also him mentioning "one moment you're bodying s---, and then your audience split" is probably a reference to the BET Cypher. Though his voice does sound like it did on them 2011 leaks from when he was still on drugs lol.
