Back in July, Los Angeles Lakers rookie and basketball shoe revolutionary Lonzo Ball shocked everyone when he tweeted that he liked 21 Savage’s Issa Album more than JAY-Z’s 4:44. Now, it looks like that minor internet outrage didn’t deter the basketball phenom from his new school leanings.

During the first episode of his newly released reality TV series, Ball In The Family, Lonzo shoots down the notion of listening to “real hip-hop” as opposed to the stuff he listens to now. To make his point, he claims that people don’t listen to Nas in 2017.

“Y’all outdated man. Don’t nobody listen to Nas no more,” Lonzo says in the clip. Eventually he follows it up by saying, “Real hip-hop is Migos and Future.”

Now, the idea of youngsters not listening to or appreciating old school hip-hop is far from a new one. In fact, it’s so embedded in the culture, it’s almost become cliché. Still, a lot of folks don’t like to have it pushed into their face, and so predictably, Lonzo got dragged on Twitter.

With comments like the ones ‘Zo just made, it’s probably important to remember he was born in 1999, so his “favorite rapper” list is bound too look different than that of an older head—or even someone 25 and up. Back in May, the rapper revealed that Lil Wayne, Future, DMX, 50 Cent and 2Pac are his favorite rappers. 2Pac and DMX represent the old school, but Weezy and Future hold down two big spots in his list.

On another note, ‘Zo did show some gratitude to Hov after the rap legend and music mogul admitted to copping three pairs of yet-to-be-released Z02 sneakers. “I’m just thankful, man, appreciate it,” he said of Hov’s purchase.

You can see Lonzo make his comments at the nine-minute mark of the video below.

I got a soft spot for the small high flyers.

Tbh if you go down the list of top PGs, most of them have had knee injuries at some point or another.
Russ, CP3, Wall, Lowry, Kyrie, Bledsoe.
