May 11, 2017 Forreal stops me me from enjoying this song TBH. You're 100 percent right. The whole song sounds like it was literally composed live in someone's f---ing car whilst driving on a handheld recorder or some s---. Which allows me to digress; Something is seriously up with mixing and mastering with near on most of ems catelogue since relapse era. Ive mentioned it before but its such a f---ing atrocity that I feel it still needs addressing! I wish I know what it was and why, but I hope someone has made Rosenjew and Marshall aware of this. I'm shocked they've actually let s--- drop in the state its in. Thats how bad some of it is. 3/4 of mmlp2 sounds tinny as f---. The final version of phenomenal still sound like an early reference track, just for example. Its borderline as bad an issue as the whole obsession with double time flows he's had past few years. On the whole it kinda tampers with the listening experience. Some of the mixing and mastering on southpaw sounds like an improvement to be fair.... but as Ive mentioned... then there was phenomenal. I find the whole thing weird, because surely em, being as OCD and as obsessed that he is, the perfectionist that everyone refers to him as, surely you can't tell me he isn't hearing this s---?
