Earlier we had a pretty bad storm and we lost all power. Now my Mac keeps randomly shutting off. Very frustrating as I'm trying to get these final projects for my summer class done. Any tips on what could be causing it?

Unless the hard drive was affected it should be pretty simple

Is it something I can fix myself? I don't have AppleCare and the closest Apple Store is 100 miles away

I don't know how macs work, but for general PC's the issue would be a damaged powersupply (which is why you use a surge protector b----) .

This sounds weird but can you slightly shake it and say if you hear a rattle or anything?

which is why you never buy a mac
    It's better to build/buy a d--- windows pc
not sure what the problem is then.
Nothing else would make it turn off after being turned on.

Is it overheating? Is it an instant shutdown or a procedural shutdown?

After u check for the rattle get some milk and just lightly pour it on the keyboard when it's plugged in btw that might cool everything down and fish out any gunk or anything that might be disrupting the cord which could be f---ing with the computers accessibility.
