Jun 26, 2017 Hi so my 2 friends (ones a dude who knows a bunch about sports, music, drugs etc. the other is a qt girl who knows a fucc load about music) and i who know a lot about music, movies general art stuff and clothes and skating etc. are doing a podcast soon so i was just wondering what ppl would wanna hear like what works iyo etc. just music stuff? sports? which ones? current affairs? try to keep it funny or serious or a blend? segments? length? and whatever else just really looking for pointers i guess i think itll be mostly music based bc we all love and know about music but the banter between us all is good and would lend itself well to a podcast. ik these questions are prob hard to answer since you've never heard us talk or w.e but if you got any questions im happy 2 answer
Jun 26, 2017 Mainly music (could focus on different genres/eras each week or something) Reckon a blend of funny and serious is the way to go. Don't really wanna veer towards one or the other. Even Steven sounds a lot more approachable. Sports can be a segment but don't make it the focus, have it as a complementary segment to break up the potential monotony of just music talk.
Jun 26, 2017 yup i felt the exact same, i was thinking maybe doing an album discussion thing sorta like a book club or something but not making it too long cause that would get boring af if you dont care about the album but i kinda dont like the idea of segments but idk
Jun 26, 2017 Would personally prefer mainly music, but also some current affairs. Mostly serious would be best, and funny will come naturally if you guys are funny, then that will be no problem. Sure, do segments, and concerning length, just to a pilot ep and see how far you get with it being interesting. I prefer podcasts being around an hour myself.
Jun 26, 2017 Oh forreal, my N!g @Final got a podcast??? I need to be checking that s---. Why did I not know this.
Jun 26, 2017 Number one rec is to make eps on the shorter side when you start out (30 min max). I see people I know irl posting their podcasts on facebook and s--- and they're like 90-120 min an ep and ain't no one gonna listen to that s--- but your very closest friends. Basically keep in mind that starting out no one is gonna care besides people who know you personally so if you want more people to listen to it I'd keep it shortish. I'll take a chance on a 10-30 min ep podcast made by a rando but if it's two hours I probably won't.
Jun 26, 2017 Also this, let the humor be natural. There's nothing worse than a podcast host who thinks they're way funnier than they are. I don't think @Cunner will have that problem cuz I think you're pretty naturally funny and knowledgeable.
Jun 26, 2017 I can't speak for everyone else, but I only really listen to podcasts that have some kind of structure and topic to them. So I'd say keep it to an hour max, have a good idea of what you want to talk about, and some idea of how you're going to structure those topics. So if it's a music podcast, you'll obviously always have new albums to talk about. @MTY is pretty experienced when it comes to that, so maybe consult him.
Jun 26, 2017 as everyone else is saying, get a structure figured out right away so I'd probably make a schedule with the topics you want to hit on in the order you want to hit on them and try to keep it under an hour max also, your first couple of podcasts will probably be awkward and have shitton of technical issues so getting those first episodes out of the way as soon as possible is also a good move and generally will teach you perisistence and structure
Jun 26, 2017 Nah Final and DP used to do TheDopeBoyz/ODE Radio Show like over a year ago. Just tagged them here to pass on their knowledge.
Jun 26, 2017 It's just for fun I guess I realise probably noones gonna give a s--- enough 2 listen I think we're gonna use it as practise for a radio show on a volunteer radio station doe
