Nov 20, 2015 Another unarmed man was beaten by police officers recently in the SF area. It seems like every other week, there's a new video of the police abusing their power. Basically ITT I want to know what you think about incidents like this, and how it could be prevented (if possible)
Nov 20, 2015 These things are really upsetting to see. It's just completely uncalled for. These police officers are definitely abusing their power. Of course, I don't know the overall context of what happened here, but anybody can see that this is overly excessive force. As for how it can be prevented, I honestly don't know. The only thing I can think of is giving police harsher punishments for actions like this so that this brutal behaviour and culture will stop. It's not likely to have a large impact though. Police just need to be humbled.
Nov 20, 2015 just finished a chase I believe. dude getting his a--- beat was obviously in the wrong but once the police got him there was no need to beat him the way they did.
Nov 20, 2015 Imo police officers who abuse their power should definitely be punished if what they did wasn't needed. However in some cases those scumbags (criminals/big mouths) get what they deserve and they should never be labeled as 'victims'. They are the ones that are wrong and provoke. Cops are not responsible for people who have problems or a bad youth or whatever, that's up to parents, psychologists/judges to decide, the police needs to do their job. And people should not forget that cops are humans also. Sure they have a different standard (they are trained for it so thats fair) but even they can make mistakes/let emotions guide them. Again, not saying thats always a good thing. I think a lot of people are one sided about this subject, showing no empathy to cops, or the people who are so called victims of police violence. But just a few seconds of a video is not enough to judge those situations. This is how I feel about it in general and of course every case is different. Edit: this video, that was not needed from what we see on the video. d---. He was even in handcuffs wasn't he? Depends on what he did
Nov 20, 2015 According to the YouTube comments, the perpetrator had just r---d a woman. Also according to YouTube comments, I'm a fa----, so you never know who to trust
Nov 20, 2015 If that is true, I have less sympathy for that guy. This is what I meant with knowing the whole story. Btw you're still a good poster regardless of your sexuality man
Nov 20, 2015 People might take this the wrong way but calling all cops pigs is like calling all Muslims ISIS. These cops were obviously in the wrong and im sure they will lose their jobs for it. No reason to attempt to generate more hate on police in times were we might need them more then ever. edit- unless the guy just r---d a women.. then he deserved it. people should read the full story before they judge.
Nov 20, 2015 I was reading on this, I believe some of those officers have been put on administrative leave and internal affairs are investigating. Obviously if it's true this guy "r---d" someone, I don't feel bad for him but again.... And I've repeated this so many times throughout these discussions, police officers needs to be held to the highest standard. Police officers should NOT be making emotion based decisions, they should be making decisions based on their protocol and training. What this guy might have done doesn't change that.
Nov 20, 2015 Even if he r---d someone, there's no reason for the police to beat him when he's already surrendered and on the ground.
Nov 20, 2015 Basically the two cops were chasing this guy, and he stopped to surrender and one of them tackled him. They both proceeded to beat him with their batons, one hitting him seemingly really hard on his head and back.
Nov 20, 2015 Oh my god... i don't know what he did but that was a totally unnecessary coward beating.
Nov 20, 2015 Apparently he r---d someone, but I don't know for sure. Haven't researched it. Like I posted earlier, there's no excuse for beating up an unarmed man who surrendered.
Nov 20, 2015 Yeah they definitely need to be appropriately disciplined. If it means getting fired, so be it.
