Probably more important now than ever, keeping as much back up money as possible.

I used to not give a s--- about money and buy what I wanted, when I wanted. Times changed a few years ago and I now live by the mantra of
"spend money on what you NEED and experiences rather than material objects".
This has worked for me over the last 3 years with being able to save around £50k in that time.

***I'll update this thread with how I do this later or tomorrow, run out of time now. For now, feel free to share any tips or suggestions on how to save money***

I'm so bad at this. I blow money I basically don't have on alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. I have no self control.

I think money management comes with age and experience man. That used to me.
Then I had the moment of realisation of the "three pillars". Money. Time. Energy. Success is about having all 3 but that doesn't come naturally.
When you're young you have energy and time but no money.
When you're a working adult you have money and energy but no time.
When you're old/retired you have money and time but no energy.

My goal over the next 20 years is purely about focusing on my retirement and to be able to retire 10+ years before the "official" retirement age so that I can have a few years of money, time and energy.

f---, I'll do the same if I'm not a junkie in my next life dude. But good on you, financial responsibly is very difficult but very worth it.

    im very good at it.
Always have been. The key has been discipline & not a heavy drinker or drug user.
Any mental health problems I have always confronted by talking about it to someone. Never been one to keep things to myself for long or turn to substances to numb pain or over eat either which I have seen people do.
I did enjoy weed in the past but I have to stop completely because I knew it turn into a problem. Thinking more long term at times can help as well.

Was pretty good saving money back in the day (still pretty good at saving money) but someday i just thought "man, i can die every f---ing day. What will all the money in my account do for me when I am dead" Then i started to find a good mixture between saving money for car repairs or something like that and buying stuff i want (mostly are clothes or vinyls). I dont have high standards, so saving money comes in the normal case by itself

Good luck finding something like that at the moment.

Quite frankly a shoe box under the bed is looking good right now with rumours England are going to introduce NEGATIVE interest rates.

Save on non essential things like Netflix. Consider turning auto-renew off, for things like Netflix. Instead of paying for Netlix every 30 days on the dot, why not let it lapse and pick the subscription back up the next time you need it? Who knows, maybe a few days or a week will go by without missing Netflix, and you'll save some money. Also you may save on Internet. I never pay the full bill for Comcast service, we always negotiate the fee through their comcast phone number customer service:)
