I say 98-2005 or so, most rap albums' tracks followed the rap standards and were dope and head nodding, then after that they started moving into the newer era instrumentals that we have today. Everything had a more 'hip hop' feel during that time on average imo

The 2000's gave us some of the BEST beats of all time

    My all time favorite beat:

    From 2000's till 2010.
And we gotta be honest tho, this era may end up as one of the best in terms of beats .

Ehh, I'd say late 90s to early 2000s for me (my taste at least) off the top of my head

I feel it's about 50/50 on if pre-95 production sounds dated or not. Late 90s to early 2000s is the perfect blend of sincere hip hop without sounding outdated

I think it's not really fair to say best or worst.

Like, as of right now I feel like most rappers rap over the same trap beat over and over again with just a different melody over it. I can listen to some songs but a full album of it? h--- no.

But if you're a huge fan of those beats you might think this era is amazing.

I personally prefer albums that have different producers where every song has a different sound/type of beat.

For example: stir fry is the only song that doesn't sound almost the same to me as the rest of culture 2 (maybe 3 or 4 others I can't think of now) but if you take .. lets say GKMC or MBDTF, every song sounds completely different.

I know I said this before and people disagree (or look at it differently) but yeah. Also this doesn't really indicate an era because in the 90's a lot of beats sounded the same as well.

    I'm going w 2000's

The issue with trap is it's peaked at a time that YouTube producers have peaked and they all use the same drum kits

YT producers also know nothing about chord progression and song structure which leads to a terribly bland music

getting a beat off youtube is like walking through a minefield

The drum kits is exactly what I mean.

And like I said I do like trap music, but only if something is added to make it more special and not so basic and boring (to me) -gucci g---, lots of migos songs, other upcoming rappers-

There are lots of songs with that basic sound but with so many things added that make them 'unique'. Unfortunately lots of those producers stick with the same s---

No there's some great producers ive found but its really rare

this kinda sounds like an Eminem type beat off youtube tbh, I mean its better obviously but the pretty similar. If you're looking for unique trap production you should listen to HNDRXX, its really different than any future project imo
