You went from Dr. Dre as his producer to a variety of different people this time.

The original plan was to have two Relapse albums, but when Em started working with Dre on sessions for the second record in Hawaii, he turned a corner artistically. And at that point, he wanted to keep moving in that new direction. So it was an evolution. “So Bad” was one of the songs from those sessions [the only one on the album produced by Dre]. By the time Marshall started focusing on making a new album, Dre was already working on his own stuff. So we reached out to Just Blaze first, worked on several tracks with him, and that opened the door to the other producers—Boi 1da, DJ Khalil. Th
ose three are the guts of the record. It was a natural progression, a matter of timing. This is probably the closest I’ve ever worked creatively with Eminem on a record, bringing him tracks, throwing him ideas, connecting the dots, helping put the album together. I worked with the A&R guys on Shady, Dart Parker and Riggs Morales, as well as Tracy McNew from management and DJ Mormile at Interscope. It was a real team effort. Prior to this, Marshall had never been open to working with outside producers.

    Here we have it.

Proof that my theory was correct and that Em has basically given Paul waaaaaay too much influence and has become a lazy c---- and left it all up to him other than to lace the vocals, and even then he can't manage to sound hungry/competitive anymore half of the time.

Literally the only thing you do now Marsh is rap... and you sound half hearted and bored at that.

I pray he f---s Paul off and starts doing his own thing or gets back wirh dre. One or the other.

HOW THE f--- can alchemist have been your DJ for the best part of a decade and u aint even use one single alc beat on any one of your solo projects?? What the actual f--- is going on here. lol.

funny, today i listened to No Bad in full since at least 1 year and thought it was definetly from Relapse era.

Anyway f--- paul. Always knew he's the reason. Recovery success made Em hand his career to his hands, and went downhill from there

so bascially a lupe fiasco lazers type situation for the past 8 yrs, that was always my guess but just a guess. but with paul saying he's gotten more creatively involved than ever along with including not one but four A&Rs, this pretty much solidifies that.

be nice if he let go of those commercial safeguards just a little & did what he wanted, at least his career wouldn't be so boring & predictable

I don't believe the whole "by the time we started recovery Dre was busy" bs. No...If Dre is busy you work out time he can contribute to your album or you wait. You make it work...he's Dre and you're his protege.

In reality something else happened, Paul/Em were freaked out with how Relapse was released/criticized and somehow Eminem went into a complete opposite pop direction in an effort to release a hotter album. Dre was not too busy and has not been too busy for the past 10 years to contribute a beat here or there on Eminem albums. After relapse either he, eminems camp, or both parties involved decided to go a different route. (And this has failed MISERABLY)

I don't buy the whole "Dre just went missing after 2009" excuse

I thought this was kind of a well known fact by now. It is kind of funny how scared the label got after that

to be fair I just read in J Prince's memoir about how when he finally got Face in the studio with Dre and they were working on this song...

...one day Dre just up and disappeared and they couldn't get in contact with him. He was originally sposed to do the hook but since Dre was MIA they had Cube do it. There was even a whole misunderstanding with the record being cleared cuz they couldn't get in contact with him and Rap-A-Lot almost got sued, but it ended with Jimmy Iovine giving them the record for free as a show of good faith (at a time when a dre beat cost like 100k). So anyway I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for Dre to just decide he doesn't work on something and go MIA.

Which agrees with my point...there's something there besides 'Dre was busy with his own stuff'. He quit Eminem or Eminem/Paul quit him. Not sure why exactly but it's not a matter of scheduling conflict for the past 10 years

Dre quit. Dre was supposed to be finishing up Detox at the time, but he scrapped it and basically hasn't produced anything himself since.
