Jul 4, 2019 "Magna Carta Holy Grail" dropped on this day 6 years ago. Album packed with 16 songs produced by Timbaland, No I.D., Hit-Boy, Swizz Beatz, Mike Will Made It, Pharrell, Travis Scott and many more... How would you rank this album today? Do you still listen to some songs from it? In my opinion, this album has more replay value than "4:44". I remember being excited af for this album and it didn't disappoint me. f--- with Jay, you know he's still got it.
Jul 4, 2019 Okay album. Fuckwmeuknow is, looking back, awful. Ross was s-----y and the beat was so meh compared to Livin so Italian. Part of me wishes I never heard that low quality version of it. Beach is better was cool but 50 seconds.. OTR was a boring sequel to Bonny and Clyde Heaven was cool but don't like the sound of it Jay Z blue, nickels dimes, somewhere in america, crown, futw and picasso are nice. Holy grail was a nice single but kinda whiny. BBC was dope. So yeah to me overall, okay.
Jul 4, 2019 I'm still torn about this album; on one hand there's some genuinely great moments and at the same time there's filler than holds it back. Jay had the right idea for a summer album, linking up back with Timbo was certainly the right idea, but the inconsistent theme of the album always throws me off--Jay is someone that's always mastered that so it's sorta like he wanted to package a bunch of recorded stuff together rather than create a proper album. I'm still hopelessly awaiting the day he releases Beach Is Better in full
Jul 4, 2019 MCHG doesn’t have Kingdom Come’s highs. Kingdom Come is uneven but it at least has songs like Prelude and Lost One to hold it up, MCHG is mid throughout
Jul 4, 2019 Somewhereinamerica's beat is simple yet dope as f--- . h--- sometimes i'd rather just listen to the instrumental than the whole song lmao
Jul 4, 2019 I haven't listened in a long time, but I recall it being pretty forgettable. I will give it another listen though
Jul 5, 2019 I remember being on holiday and seeing the whole roll out of this for the previous couple of weeks. Each songs lyrics were released but nothing else. And also something about getting the album for free if you had a Samsung Galaxy but I don't remember the specifics. I remember being a mid Jay fan and thinking his entire career was always one good album, then one bad, then one good etc etc. This was on the "bad album" cycle. At the time it was boring and I prob gave it no more than 5 spins. However, going by what I remember it may have aged well so I'm quite interested in revisiting.
Jul 6, 2019 I've always had a soft spot for Kingdom Come. Could just be the nostalgia factor, the hype before he dropped his combeack album was insane and i bumped the s--- out of it when it dropped. MCHG is Hov's worst worst album imo, though thats not to say its a complete write-off. the hype was also huge given that it had been 4 years since BP3 but there wasn't anything to return to really. The whole thing was mid all the way through. Definitley need to give it another listen one of these days, its been a few years
