Jan 21, 2020 With Eminem’s other albums you heard flashes of him being back. From Rap God to Believe, you saw signs. What is different from Em’s early work and now is actually kind of hard to describe. But it’s energy. When you watch a good acting performance versus a great one, there’s a certain aura. In terms of rhyming and flowing fast, you could make a case Eminem is better now. And MTBMB had good beats. I feel like he is just one notch away from returning to full form. But it has nothing to do with his lyrical ability or ability to k--- a beat. Right now Em is as close as he’s ever been to recapturing that magic. If he could, he would be even better than Old Slim. It’s more about believing your lyrics than being good at the lyrics.
Jan 21, 2020 Em is the only one who ppl always compare whatever he is doing to something he did before Just enjoy the current him
Jan 21, 2020 this album only has a few of good songs 5'9" kills Em on every track Black Thought kills Em on Yah Yah Em still putting out recycled songs like his last few albums (with Ed Sheeran and Skylar) Trying to appeal to younger generations with guest features Recycling his past unfunny lyrics speed rapping to be trendy makes a song about a tragedy while insulting another one
Jan 22, 2020 I think a lot of its down to personal preference. I prefer Em when he raps a bit slower and simpler, less focus on punch lines and double entendres and more emphasis on flow and storytelling. Recent songs like Castle, Arose, Stepping Stone (not so much the latter) are some of Em's best in recent years, in my opinion. I understand he's evolving all the time and rapping how he wants, its just not for me. It's no problem though, there's always his older stuff to listen to whenever I want.
Jan 22, 2020 To the extent of every verse? Yes that verse sounds like 02 That verse sound like encore session Thats kami leftover
Jan 22, 2020 Hows the song with Skylar recycled considering he talks about his dad dying?? Everything else you said is subjective. You're right about the tragedy but he combines his story into that one. Hes always had moments when hes being serious, and when hes using current or past events for analogies or punchlines. You can tell when hes being serious and when hes not. And even when he makes a punch line about something that's not a bad thing, humor or inspiration can be found in anything The ed song is the best hes done a fun song in forever. It's like his old d12 songs but way better lyrically. The convo with the chick in the song is funny. And the ohio refrences are good aswell Royce having the better verses is subjective. Ima huge Royce stan so whatever. I'm glad hes getting his just due eventually. Majority of what you said is subjective, and you complained about his flows, lyrics, content, festures etc. So you made a solid attempt to display you hate everything about it and what hes doing. Albums insane to me. Also black thought is in my top 5 and I'm kinda dissapointed with his verse. It was dope, but hes capable of alot more.
Jan 22, 2020 it’s true man that’s how I rate his s--- I’d say it’s on this level or that level.. sounds like “blah Eminem” (insert era) and it’s not on purpose either lol. You right though just enjoy it for what it is: His new album here is a grower for sure, it can’t even really be understood in one listen. Anyone doing the one listen and tossing this album is making a huge mistake. You develop a new “EAR” listening to this album. I listened to it for the first time in a group setting and that was a mistake.. everyone was like what...the...f---...just...happened...lol.. once I got home and just vibed with my headphones on I started to realize how amazing this album really is.
Jan 22, 2020 Same with me, I thought I'd never play a track off the album again. Then an idea hit me to drive in the car and listen to it from start to end one last time. Changed from 3/10 album to 9/10
Jan 22, 2020 Eminem being a capable rapper today is just that. It's not a return to the "Old Slim" but instead proof that he's still got it. Let the past be just that.
Jan 22, 2020 No? You’re getting the f---ing finger, prostate exam tech n9ne writes better lyrics. His worst album yet. Revival is better.
Jan 22, 2020 This is so true. Eminem is mainly compared to himself. 98-03 was a moment and era that was beautiful. But there really isn’t anything wrong with the current Eminem. It’s 2020 and he’s making songs on the level of Stan and people want the old him back?... it’s a new moment and a new era. People need to just be happy for what we get.
