since the Blueprint 3 he's dropped a solo every four years (2009, 2013, 2017). 2021 seems to fit the pattern - though you'd expect a few features by now to gear up for his return.

Also, is it just me or did the wait between 2013 and 2017 feel way bigger than 2017-now feels?

I hope not honestly. I have lost all interest in jay and I feel another album would hurt his legacy.

Rap changed so much from 2013-2017 compared to 2017 to now that’s probably why

I hope so, Jay was in rare form on 4:44 and even rarer form on A Written Testimony

I wonder if A Written Testimony will be what we get from Jay for a bit.

I was really hoping for Jay to drop this year, but written testimony was still a nice hold over if we dont. I feel like I'm in the minority on this but I enjoyed MCHG in 2013, I thought it was a continuation of some sounds and deliveries he had on WTT. Watch the throne, MCHG,4:44, his verses on the carters, written testimony, he hasnt been missing to me. But I was a fan of the minimal production on 4:44. Mixing/saturation on his vocals was perfect too. Marcy me is still my s---.

Climate wise with what's goin on in the country it's the perfect muse for him to draw from. But he's been using his stature and money to get himself in rooms, and in direct contact with people he needs to, to get the ball rolling in the direction of much needed changes, so idk if hes recording like that with everything hes doing. I'm optimistic for next year though. Earlier this year I was hoping for EM,Royce, Jay,Kendrick, ScHoolboy, and cole records. But THIS MUH FUGGIN RONA.

That’s what I was thinking. I will take whatever new Jay project with open arms though.
