Jan 14, 2021 This actually made me re-read details about the Brock Turner case. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_v._Turner Apparently one of the juror's became so infuriated with the verdict he wrote an angry letter to the judge https://www.paloaltoonline.com/news/2016/06/13/brock-turner-juror-to-judge-shame-on-you The judge was asked to be recalled after the verdict https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Persky The Victim's statement: https://paloaltoonline.com/news/2016/06/03/stanford-sex-assault-victim-you-took-away-my-worth
Jan 15, 2021 i saw this earlire this week. its pretty good. very entertaining and thought provoking. some tonal issues tho... def a 'first time filmmaker' type movie where it cant quite land the concept. last third is a little mehhh... but the cast is great especially bo and carrie
Jan 22, 2021 Just finished it last night. I agree with the tonal issues, it like tried to be too tongue-in-cheek where some scenes feel too campy. The bad guys also seem so inept or evil, it’s laughable. But the casting was great. And overall the film was both striking in its content and visuals.
Jan 28, 2021 yeah. it's not terrible, but cant rly sustain its own premise/politics. some heavy edgelord vibes. hence why the ending feels like a letdown (imo). but agreed -- rly well cast and mostly fun for what it is. i personally like carey mulligan and think the academy has overlooked alot of her work the last decade unfairly, so im OK with her being nominated. but the hype is crazy i just think as as a movie its payoff sort of unearned.
