Feb 28, 2021 Supposed to have surgery this month that will involve titanium screws. Anyone here live with metal in their body? Side effects? Does TSA check your prison pocket every time you want to fly? Do you regret it?
Feb 28, 2021 Yeah I have some in screws in my jaw leftover from surgery. It's never made a metal detector go off. I can feel the pointy end of one of them that sticks out (like not literally, there's still gum over it but it protrudes out slightly) of my lower left inside gums. No side effects to my knowledge.
Feb 28, 2021 From SXN80 to Toronto, we let the metal go off and my jaw so strong it make the metal detector go off
Mar 2, 2021 When I was around 7-8 years old I accidently swallowed a loonie. We were in the car with my parents and while they were driving I was playing with the coin and for some stupid reason decided to put it in my mouth which is disgusting but kids do stupid s---. So the car hit a little bumb and I accidently swallowed the thing. It went right through. A Canadian dollar is pretty big so I was really lucky not to choke on it. If that thing went down the wrong way I probably could have died right there. Immedietly I told my parents what just happened and they turned around in panic. Fourtunately everything ended up being ok. Tried looking for it after I pooped for the next couple days but we never found it. Maybe it's still in my body to this day. Who knows.
Mar 2, 2021 Had ACL reconstruction. The screws they use won't go off in metal detectors and over time they get absorbed into the bone. Side Effects: Have an ACL again Would try again
Mar 2, 2021 True metal in your blood stream can go to the brain and cause brain damage. So this story checks out
Mar 2, 2021 I broke my left hip 3 years ago. Got 6 titanium pins in my hip for the rest of my life. EDIT: I've never gone off in a TSA metal detector.
Mar 2, 2021 This is good to know. I was dreading having to deal with those idiots more than I have to.
Mar 2, 2021 how is your knee the years after. Any pain or problems with it? kinda curious how people do long term from knee surgery. Does it feel the same as your healty knee
