do you cut in or just do it all in one take? if you aren’t cutting you should, it’ll help with breath control and tightening up the flow

I usually try to do one take but I have been experimenting with punching in but I never seem to keep the right flow or voice when I do so it’s painfully obvious I’ve cut in.

You’ve got to work on your delivery so it’s seamless. The easiest way is to rap the last one or two lines prior to the cut in, so you’re not coming in dry. It’ll help with the consistency and flow. Then just cut the one or two lines you re-recorded.

Eventually with practice your punch ins will be seamless without the lead up.

you’ve gotta train your voice. practice it. tune it. It’s a rappers only instrument. do some vocal exercises to warm up (you can find a ton on YouTube), practice recording the same verse over and over again until each take is indistinguishable from the last. You really have to find your voice.
