So many unbelievable moments in sports we witnessed this year. Now I'm only 21 and aware that professional sport has been around a lot longer than I have but this has probably got to be the biggest year in sports in terms of upsets and record breaking moments I've ever seen.

I'll post some of the biggest stories that I've followed, feel free to input on other moments i've missed.

    NBA
    [IMG]
    Cleveland Cavaliers

What an unbelievable finals series, they were down 3-1 against GSW who just achieved the greatest regular season record of all time and were starting to be looked at as one of the greatest teams of all time. But LeBron happened, no way he was going to accept another finals loss and pulled of a near impossible comeback. It all came down to the dying seconds were LeBron from outta nowhere blocked Iguodala which lead to Kyrie knocking down a clutch 3. What an upset.

    MLB
    [IMG]
    Chicago Cubs

Honestly, I don't know much about Baseball and really dont have much to say about this, except for this is Bill Murray's team, but it's been 108 years since their last world series, such a long drought for a big team.

    UFC
    [IMG]
    Conor McGregor

Could he be bigger than the UFC? I mean d--- this guy has turned into a megastar. In 2016 he became the first UFC fighter to hold two belts to his name being the Lightweight and Featherweight champion. Unfortunately doesn't have the featherweight due to inactivity but it was still an amazing achievement, but can he try to do it again?

    AFL
    [IMG]
    Western Bulldogs

Had to add an Australian sport into this post because it deserves its spot. It's considered extremely unlikely to make the Grand Final finishing outside the top 4. After finishing the 2016 season in 7th position, the Bulldogs managed to defeat last years runners up, then last years champions, then GWS in a last second nail biter to defeat the Sydney Swans in the Grand Final, they were the true underdogs all the way through yet still managed to hold the trophy at the end.

    Premier League
    [IMG]
    Leicester City

Wow....... just wow....... Could this be the biggest underdog victory of all time? I mean cmon at the start of the season sports betting companies had this team with a 5000/1 chance of winning the Premier League. In a sport where the is no salary cap and money wins everything, this small club did the unimaginable. You could say the the big clubs struggled with inconsistency but that doesnt take anything away from their achievements. Bow down Leicester. JAMIE VARDY IS HAVING A PARTY.

It's definitely in the conversation. I think it probably is. In regards to fairytales etc. I don't think many other years would come close.

If we're talking objectively though 2010 is due to the Collingwood premiership.

We can even add some brilliant individual performances by Klay, Westbrook, Davis and Harden so far in the NBA and Chelsea's 13 game winning streak.

Yeah definitley a great year for upsets, a few betting agencies putting up what odds you would have got if you backed all the eventual champs of each code i.e premier league, nba, nfl, afl, uero 2016, mlb e.t.c and the odds were rediculous.

No cuz Kobe retired. *cries uncontrollably*

Naw but seriously I see your point, I personally wouldn't call it the greatest cuz I feel that comes down to opinion, but I wouldn't hesitate to call it the biggest. There were certainly some huge sports moments that we weren't sure we'd ever see, historic year for sure.

I do feel people slightly overrate the NBA finals though, I mean I don't think any of the games were close until game 7. Then the last few minutes of game 7, neither team could hit a shot, I think both teams missed like their last 5 shots each other than Kyries which was basically the game winner. Obviously Cleveland finally getting one was a big deal though.

But at least Kobe went out with a b---. One of the best games I'd seen all year and would definitely contribute to this thread :mjcry:

The Cavs finals was still great. But for those who don't follow Soccer, the Leicester City story is what carries this thread.

Well, the NFL was s--- last year, but if we're talking about the 2016-2017 season, then sure, as long as Goodell hands Brady the Lombardi trophy.

I'm saying yes because the Cavs championship made me wash away all the Darius Miles, Ricky Davis days, etc.

Can't ever forget the famous quote, think it was from Miles....

"I thought LeBron was here to help me score more."
