Apparently If I Was a Folkstar came out a few days ago via leak or something but I'm gonna hold off on that until the whole album comes out.

That Danny Brown feat must be the incredible song he was talking about years ago

He's featured on The Wozard of Iz so I'd assume it's that.

Yeah I'm in the same boat but tbh I only listened to the single like twice so I don't even remember much of the song aside from the obvious chorus sample.

How'd you find out about Avalanches btw? For me I only found out about them like last month thanks to MTY and since then I've fallen in love with SILY.

I dont like playing singles to much before the album release but I do know that Frankie Sinatra is a rather meh song...

SILY was on greatest albums of the 2000s list so I was always aware of them but they didn't turn into a priority to listen to until all of this rumbling about a new album so I listened to SILY and like you fell in love with it

Exactly lol I think its excusable however, this album came out when I was 3 and its not exactly a what's the word...mainstream? Accessible? Album... Youre not going to know of it unless you browse these kind of things....

The Intro, Two Hearts, Close To You & Summers Crane. Great album front to back

Man I'm from Australia and I had no f---ing clue about The Avalanches. :wow2: I would've been six yrs old when SILY came out yet I hardly remember hearing any of the singles on radio.

I think it was because they were very indie/underground at the time (still are sorta) but thanks to the internet as well as being a hit in the UK more people now know of them.

I love artist with smaller discographies. Bonus points if its spread out over some time.

Nothing worse than trying to get into an artist / group with a double digit discography..

Right on man. Let's just thank our lucky stars we found them at the right time. Imagine being a fan from day dot and having to wait 16 agonising years for a follow up album.

Nevertheless only 3 and a half weeks left to wait!

Yeah it probably adds to the allure if a group/artist has only an ample sized discog.

And I hear ya about an artist/group with a big discog, it's daunting as f---. Sometimes the challenge is worth it though (and sometimes not, but more often than not if you're researching a group that resonates with you it's more than likely to be worth it).

Some are worth it soley because of how great the artist is. I took in most of Bowies discography rather quickly because it was exciting for me. Every album had its own feeling and story it didn't feel like an artist with a signature sound constantly rehashing it. Bowie had a purpose with his characters and vision.

Like you mentioned about having to wait 16 years for this album if you were a fan from the beginning the sweetest part is erasing that wait all together. I went through a decade of Bowie in no time and with artist like Swans I didnt have to wait decades for new music it was all at my finger tips...

Just like the next generation can listen to channel ORANGE and then immediately follow up with the as of now unreleased album without ever having to feel the pain of the wait

I strongly suggest when you have time to listen to their debut album Since I Left You in full. It's an experience. :wow2:
