A new variant of the coronavirus is spreading rapidly in England and raising international alarms. This new variant now accounts for more than 60% of the cases in London. And scientists say the variant is likely more contagious than previous versions of the virus.

Health officials have closed international travel to the United Kingdom. The British government has locked down much of the country. And scientists all over the world are rushing to figure out how the virus mutated and how big a threat the new variant poses.

Viruses mutate all the time (hence needing a new flu shot every year). It's only cause for concern because Covid in general is still in its infancy and we don't fully understand it.

Our scientists have said they believe it's no more deadly and that the existing vaccines will still work on it. Phizer have also said that if their vaccine does not work on it then they can have one that does in 6 weeks.

Most important thing is that the vaccin works against it. They're investigating that right now but think that won't be a problem.

So yeah lets all hope thats the case lol

I'm for Covid-21. It will be more mature and by the time we get to Covid-30 it won't want to even go out as much anymore

2021 can be worse than this year. The economic crisis would be HUGE.

d--- that sucks man. I mean it's for the best public health-wise but it's s-----y nonetheless. I still feel very lucky to be able to work from home even though I'm tired of it—I could have no work at all.

Our government is subsidising 80% of our salary so could be worse. A lot worse. But household expenses went up in Feb with the birth of our daughter and my wife is about to lose her job because we moved away from the area she worked when she went on maternity leave.

Anyway, enough of my woes. What were we taking about??
