Sep 4, 2020 Just dropped today. The reviews on the game are great. I played it a bit and all I have to say is, it's everything a fan of the early Tony Hawk's games could ask for. A lot of the soundtrack is the same, you have all of the original skaters and more. There's create a park and multiplayer. The game stays true to the original but also adds some new elements. This is honestly the best Tony Hawk's game since early in the series. Possibly even better. They really nailed this remaster. Official trailer: Review:
Sep 4, 2020 Been thinking about getting this but some remasters are just a $60 texture pack. Seeing all the good reviews is a good sign though!
Sep 5, 2020 I try to get in nostalgia games but all i get is a sense of did that already. so i dunno i dont see the point of remasters, even if its to introduce a new audience. dont care
Sep 5, 2020 I'll get it when it drops in price a bit. It's defintley worth playing but not at the debut price tag.
Sep 5, 2020 Loved the original TH games so much. I'll def pick this up but I'm not paying AAA+ price for it. I'll wait until it is inevitably available half price in the sales.
Sep 6, 2020 Really? I think remasters are cool because you get to play games that you can't really play anymore through a modern lense. Remastering a game that came out 10 years ago wouldn't make much sense but this game came out in 1999. I think the remaster was a good idea. There's also many people who didn't get a chance to play back in the day, especially younger people who get to experience this for the first time. I also bought the Crash Bandicoot remaster several months back. Made by the same guys who remastered Tony Hawk. It's a lot of fun. It's worth it if you're a fan of the early games. I'm 10 hours in and not bored in the slightest. It just sucks I just finished unlocking all levels but there's still plenty to do. It's not just a texture pack, there are small additions here and there such as the Create a Park mode which is way more complete than the one in the early game. It pretty much gives you the liberty to do anything you can imagine. You can publish your maps and also play custom maps from other players. I never played online back in the day but tried it last night and it was a lot of fun. Everything that was lacking in the early games they pretty much fixed or added in this one.
Sep 10, 2020 I used to love these games back in the day. Have been out of the gaming world since the last GTA. Been a long time. Had the Nintendos, the Dreamcast, the PS1 + 2 and the Xbox 360 purely for GTA. Then I completely stopped and haven't gamed since. Thinking of re-igniting my gaming world with PS5 when that drops. Looks amazing.
Sep 15, 2020 Alright, I crumbled. Ended up paying full whack for this. I loved the original games so much that I couldn't resist it. Downloading now. Still no wife and kids for a couple of weeks so plenty of time to play it around work.
Sep 15, 2020 lol I should have clarified I 100%'d both sets of levels (So all stat points, goals, and gold medals) with my created skater. Plus they have Ranked play and a ton of side-challenges to do. So yea, I suppose if I wanted to do it with every skater to unlock EVERYTHING there's definitely more to be done. Either way, I'd heavily recommend. I think I pre-ordered for $50 and I don't regret a thing.
Sep 15, 2020 Fair enough. Played the tutorial so far (it was still downloading so wouldn't let me play anything else). Not that impressed so far tbh. Definitely just feels like a basic remaster. Slightly polished graphics but really poor handling physics.
Sep 15, 2020 I definitely wish they would have put an update in to allow you to get on/off your board because turning / the entire Downhill Jam level can be a real b---- lol
Sep 16, 2020 Had so much fun completing all the goals that I deleted the save files so that I can do them all over again. There are some beasts online. I still haven't been able to pull off combo higher than 500 or 600k. They used the same code as the original games. If anything it has excellent handling physics. If you want to see poor handling physics, try Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD. Night and day.
Sep 16, 2020 I'm actually finding this game pretty s-----y. Nowhere near as fun as I remember it. Such a shame.
