Curious about this. I mean a lot of people talk about Eminem, Kanye etc a lot, but Jay isn't mentioned a lot on here (same as on SL). His last album was average but imo his best 4/5 albums are very hard to top by other rappers, especially tupac and Eminem who are often hailed as the 2 greatest

    For me it's probably

    Jay
    Kanye
    Nas
    Biggie/Eminem

Kendrick, drake can get there if they release more classics though. Too many honorable mentions

Me and you are going through the same thing.

We both listened to Eminem like every day for past years. Now we hear Kendrick and we love him so much we quickly call him our fav rapper. But yeah Eminem will always be number 1 and for me Kendrick number 2

    For me -
    1. Eminem (Cemented)
    2. Kendrick Lamar
    3. Nas
    4. Kanye
    5. Andre 3000

idk where Jay ranks, havent listened to enough s---. And what ive heard he is aighttt

Because in my opinion they are not good enough to even be considered as a greatest of all time.

Kanye I can understand, but Drake and Kendrick Lamar have no business being near a greatest of all-time list.

Well, that's pretty clear based upon your last post. But why don't you think they're good enough? I can see not enough time having passed for Drake and Kendrick yet, but I think they're clearly on the path to being all-time greats. Kanye has more than proved himself.

It's fine if you don't like Kanye or whatever, but objectively, you really can't not include Kanye on AT LEAST a top 20 of all time list at this point. At that's lowballing it.

I don't look at "Greatest of all time" being based on how much fame an artist has or had. Talent and ability to make outstanding music regardless of who has heard it does it for me. You're right, I can see people putting Kanye on the list more than Drake and Kendrick. In all honesty though I do not have them on my list anywhere. I am not a fan of there music and most likely never will be.

I'm not talking about fame, I'm talking about talent. All of Kanye's albums have been well-received by critics, and most fans would agree that College Dropout/Late Registration/MBDTF (at the very least) are all classics. You can't really deny his place in hip-hop cannon at this point.

my top 3 are Jay, Nas and Kanye. Kanye is probably going to end up being number 1, and I usually go back and forth with Nas and Jay.

It's all opinion. There is so much talent in the world. What you find good and what I find good are most likely going to be completely different. I listen to many artist who I think are levels beyond Kanye. Just because they haven't hit the mainstream, doesn't make them any less acceptable to the greatest of all time.

You're not reading what I'm saying. I'm just dumbfounded that you're disappointed that people put Kanye in a top five. Is that really that out of the ordinary?

So a guy releases 7 almost-flawless albums, has rapped for 10 years without 'falling off', has released an album in the last decade which is considered to be a classic, is an absolute pioneer of the genre and you don't see the greatness at all? are you blind? r-----ed? or?
I'm not a huge Kanye fan, i prefer many other rappers over him. but denying his greatness? you are a special kind of fuckhead aren't ya c----?
