Nov 12, 2017 I look at Kendrick Lamar, who has flipped not only musically but also his persona with the last three albums he's put out, to the point where he's almost like a different person. And then On the other hand you have someone like Game who has been the same guy he walked through the door as for over a decade. What artists have changed and evolved the most both musically and overall over their career? Can you think of someone who jumped over a three album stretch more than Kendrick?
Nov 12, 2017 As far as rap Danny Brown, Wayne, Kanye, Tyler King Krule, Bjork, Bowie, Animal Collevtive, Weezer, Toro y Moi come to mind Kendrick not even in the convo imo he kinda jus went from various styles to neo west coast gangster rap beats to jazz/funk beats to various styles again mayb im biased
Nov 12, 2017 Kendrick will deff be in this discussion by the time he’s done. I mean s--- look at TPAB. That was totally left field and different than anything anyone was putting out. That could of easily ruined his career. But he pulled it off amazingly. Kendrick isn’t just a rapper he is an actual artist.
Nov 12, 2017 Mac Miller had a hilariously unique transformation through the years; went from frat boy rapper to sad boy rapper Lil Wayne went from being the skilled submachine gun of the Hot Boys, to this drugged out alien to even a rockstar I don't even know where to begin with Snoop, his career can be defined in so many different phases lol...Shout out Mos Def for never making the same album once in his career even though it pisses me off too Can't forget 3Stacks, that one is self-explanatory
Nov 12, 2017 I was gonna mention Mac Miller funnily enough as well. Obviously Kanye. Juicy J influenced and/or adapted to every era. Weezy. Future went from being a bootleg jeezy to an ATLien. Outkast. Tyler the Creator. Common. Frank Ocean.
Nov 13, 2017 if we're talking any genre? without a doubt my bloody valentine. they constantly changed sound every year i don't feel i need to say much, all i need to do is show 2 songs my bloody valentine, circa 1985 my bloody valentine, circa 1991 but the band i know that changed their sound the most is semargl, they went from black metal to dancepop. but i wouldn't say they evolved, i'd just call it a bait & switch on purpose to annoy metalheads
