Mar 3, 2021 One of the kings of rap vs one of the kings of R&B. They both sold more than 7 million albums within these respective years and had lots of hit songs and global stardom. I personally feel Em had the bigger year with the help of 8 Mile but Usher was really close. Who do you think had the bigger year at the peak of their popularity?
Mar 3, 2021 definitely Eminem especially around europe. Eminem popularity back in 02 was incredible. His peak was when Lose Yourself was out with 8 mile. There was spme many tv eminem specials on MTV UK i remember at the time. Lose Yourself was everywhere.
Mar 3, 2021 Usher was ubiquitous in the late 90s/early 00s. I've voted for him coz I'm biased but if I were to vote properly I'd say Em.
Mar 3, 2021 People always mention Europe when talking about Stans, but Em was pretty much global in 02.
Mar 3, 2021 i think eminem took up more space culturally, because beyond his music—which was obviously huge—he was this lightning rod of controversy. but confessions is perhaps the biggest album of the century when you consider how massive each of its singles was and how long their runs lasted. it was an absolute monster, and if you try to isolate the music, it was bigger than any em record.
Mar 3, 2021 You know you blew up when the women rush your stands Try to touch your hands like some screamin' Usher fans
