Dec 18, 2015 already has tbh. the 2000s brought us Eminem, Kanye, Game, Wayne, More Outkast, Jay Z Prime work, Lupe Fiasco, 50 cent, G unit, J Cole, Kendrick, Drake, and more eh maybe hasnt surpassed but its still a great era. its debatable if it has passed or not
Dec 18, 2015 I know bro I was just playing. Yeah, this definitely will never be surpassed in my opinion anyway. Too many top tier artists of the genre, too many top tier albums.
Dec 18, 2015 Are people still biased to a single time period? I thought that was some entry level rap fan phase everyone got over 90's has it's own strengths and so does all the other eras. It's just a shift of focus and consensus. If any of the best 90's albums dropped today, it would most likely have flopped, because people look for different qualities than they used to in the past. And even the backpack 90's elitist rappers like Joey wouldn't have been accepted in the 90's due to a plethora of culture ideals that was thrown away long ago. It's pointless to try and compare the eras to eachother in quality, because their focus and definition of quality isn't the same.
Dec 18, 2015 What you can say for sure is that rap is a lot more versatile nowadays. With the switch to digital, pretty much any soundscape is possible. All the unwritten rules on how you should rap is also as good as gone, which allows for a new wave of creativity. The product is people like Young Thug who take cadencing to a new level that blurs the lines between rapping and singing.
