Oct 21, 2020 King of a generation and a true pioneer. He arguably ushered in weed rap and has given us classics. Please show some respect
Oct 21, 2020 I can’t remember the last time I listened to a wiz song but none of that matters. He’s cemented himself as a house hold name. A celebrity more than a rapper. s---, I’d even say he replaced bob marley as the de facto term for weed (“I’m smoking wiz khalifa”)
Oct 21, 2020 correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't he techincally have the highest selling hip hop song of all time with See You Again?
Oct 21, 2020 I’ve never been a particular fan outside of Kush & OJ, more often than not he’s felt pretty flat as a rapper. Yet I gotta give props for his hit-making ability and for being a ubiquitous name in the industry even without the abundance of music. As the years go by, I’ve oddly grown strangely fond of his old material. Brings me back to simpler times:
Oct 21, 2020 Can’t find current stats but I haven’t heard about it being surpassed so I’m assuming he still has that spot, yes. An article dated from last year had it at 20.9million units sold so I imagine it’s even higher now. The music video is currently at 4.7 billion views
Oct 21, 2020 same here. I’ve never been a huge fan besides kush & oj and the stuff with spitta, I’m just giving credit where credit is due can we also point out how important it was in the era of rappers discovering and sampling indie rock? One of the most defining traits of the blog era
Oct 21, 2020 Pharrell the granddaddy of that movement. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Lupe, Cudi & Ye for following suit. Laid all the seeds of what we see now with rappers embracing alternative sounds, we’d never get some of Uzi’s poppiest stuff along stuff like with IGOR.
Oct 21, 2020 ot but empire of the sun hella nice I like wiz, even like some of his new s--- but this will remain my fav:
Oct 21, 2020 That mixtape is great. The first Prince Of The City mixtape as well. They don't really get mentionned. Flight School is another good mixtape and of course Kush & OJ. Old Wiz Khalifa is dope.
Oct 21, 2020 Never liked him at all. He's one rapper I just could never get into. His features on other people's albums often bring songs to a screeching halt in a fashion only seen by the likes of Travis Scott and Big Sean.
Oct 21, 2020 I agree, Mia Khalifa is definitely a legend even though she only did 3 scenes. She isn’t a bad rapper either. I’m not into weed rap since I’m straight edge and don’t drink or smoke but I respect her.
Oct 21, 2020 Prince of the city 2/ Taylor Alderdice/Kush and oj>>>>> Wiz is definitely more influental than people give him credit for. 2009-2012 was his time for sure.
