Dec 7, 2015 I think most of us can agree that Em's 1st 3 albums (excluding Infinite) are considered 'classics'. But what about the rest? This thread is inspired by many albums containing a lesser amount of songs and being considered 'classic' (ex: MBDTF (13 Tracks) gkmc (12 tracks)). Which made me wonder if Em's other 4 albums would be considered 'classic' if you would have simply got rid of the weaker tracks. Here are my proposed track lists you tell me if they're classic or not. ENCORE 1. Curtains Up / Evil Deeds 2. Never Enough 3. Yellow Brick Road 4. Like Toy Soldiers 5. Mosh 6. Puke 7. Mockingbird 8. Crazy In Love 9. We As Americans 10. Spend Some Time 11. Love You More 12. Encore / Curtains Down RELAPSE 1. Dr. West / My Darling 2. 3 A.M. 3. Music Box 4. Hello 5. Same Song & Dance 6. Stay Wide Awake 7. Must Be The Ganja 8. Old Times Sake 9. Elevator 10. Beautiful 11. Deja Vu 12. Be Careful What You Wish For RECOVERY 1. Cold Wind Blows 2. Ridaz 3. Almost Famous 4. Seduction 5. Cinderella Man 6. 25 To Life 7. No Love 8. Not Afraid 9. Space Bound 10. Love The Way You Lie 11. Going Through Changes 12. You're Never Over THE MARSHALL MATHERS LP 2 1. Bad Guy / Parking Lot 2. Rhyme Or Reason 3. Groundhog Day 4. Legacy 5. Rap God 6. Brainless 7. Wicked Ways 8. Stronger Than I Was 9. Beautiful Pain 10. Love Game 11. Headlights 12. Evil Twin
Dec 7, 2015 Shorter versions do make all of them better if you remove the worst songs (which you didn't) Still best case scenario would be a good or really good album for a few of them
Dec 7, 2015 Encore yes. Actually You don't even have to decrease the number of songs at all. Just replace them with bonus tracks and I can easily say it's a classic. As for Relapse, tracks were fine but the delivery s----d. It would have been a classic too if he just put My Darling & Careful What You Wish For instead of two of the weakest songs there and especially if he didn't do that Accent thing. Recovery is a good album which has its' own flaws but even though you scrap few weak songs, there are still annoying beats and hooks by female vocals. Very poppish. Couldn't consider it a classic. And last but not least, MMLP 2 is a classic to me. I regard it as the 4th classic. Just not as shocking or interesting as first 3 albums but Em definitely delivered.
Dec 7, 2015 The word classic is thrown around so much these days that it has completely lost it's meaning. And to answer OP, NO.
Dec 7, 2015 I hate when Eminem stans who only really listen to him comment how "we can agree his first three albums are classics" Like do u really understand the criteria to make this statement--what gives you any real position to say this Not saying OP falls under this...just the first sentence had me thinking "o rly now?"
Dec 7, 2015 Relapse would be a critically acclaimed near classic if shortened. TBH, I don't think it'd make a huuuuge difference. SSLP MMLP TES those are Em's classics, no need to force a 4th
Dec 7, 2015 Classic can be kinda subjective, though. There's plenty of near classics that people regard as classics. For example, Teflon Don.
