Thought of this as a way to increase non-eminem discussion on the website, since I know a lot of people like myself and @Michael Myers are out here trying to up discussion elsewhere on the site

I've been listening to a ton of hip hop the past year that I hadn't heard before and plan on listening to a lot more

So basically I'm gonna use this thread to keep up with my thoughts and reviews on albums and if it creates discussion that's good, but only albums new to me though like ones I only listened to the first time this past year new or old

So here's gonna be the format and I'll be adding albums to this list as they come out or I discover them. I'll keep the albums ordered by age and artist so you can find a particular one easily

albums highlighted in red already have a score, normal text albums I plan to listen to or review

    Kendrick Lamar - d---
Another huge departure from his past sound much like his last album To p---- a Butterfly in 2015. This time the music is a little more laid back and has a pop sound. The album narrative and message is there but this time a lot more cryptic and loose, which lends to repeat listens and varying interpretations. This helps transform this record into another phenomenon for Kendrick..One of the best this year

    Joey Bada$$ - All-Amerikkan Bada$$
I'll admit it was an initial turnoff to see Joey not only abandon the vintage classic rap sound, but also to see that he was pointing toward politics as a central message of his album. I feel like a artist like Joey greatly limits themselves by focusing on this topic instead of letting their raps bounce on other subjects. It hurts the relistenability. I didn't like the first soft part of the album either because again, it was such a jump from Joey's other music. Either way I love the second half of the disc and I learned to enjoy Joey's radio friendly tracks and the album overall for what it is

Vince Staples - Big Fish Theory
This album is definitely not the expansive epic I was expecting of Vince following Summertime 06 (an instant classic record). It's a lot more schizophrenic and experimental, and really everyone should've seen this coming with how much of an "in the moment" kind of guy Vince comes off as. Love the instrumentals on this album , it's a consistent record but doesn't quite the highs of his last album. it's an all-around solid listen and more importantly, it's an artistic jump and change of direction for Vince.

    Eminem - Revival
Messy, sporadic and often incoherent both mentally and artistically. The inclusion of many head-scratching production choices and lack of any notable focus severely hamper this one.

Was excited for thugger girls because Jeffrey was my first thug project and I was obsessed with it. When it dropped I did not like it that much...I'll add it to the list and finish up my thoughts for sure

Haven't dived into Future's albums at all but if there is interest and discussion to be had there then I will definitely do it

Needed a few listens but I really liked BTG now. Hndrxx has been my favorite rap album of 2017 since it dropped. Not sure if it still is (emimem dropped.. duh) but definitely top 5

I'll be adding anything ppl suggest that I find interesting and listening whenever I can

I remember just comparing it to JEFFREY and being disappointed, I'll relisten (this'll be first time in months) w/ an open mind

I'm excited to hear hndrxx, I've only heard future's popular tracks tbh
