Jun 12, 2017 Everyone I talk to who isn't a part of the rap internet seems to have no idea this album exists and just knows about FUTURE, Mask Off, etc. I love Mask Off but it's the exact type of Future song we don't need more of. Even people who are relatively up on rap for non-internet people I've found didn't even know he dropped a second album. Not to mention it got snubbed review-wise most places.
Jun 12, 2017 Most casual hip-hop fans don't really keep up to date with album release dates like we do. They'll find songs from the radio and that's pretty much it. HNDRXX surprisingly didn't get much radio play where im from so not surprising tbh
Jun 12, 2017 dropping 2 albums in 2 weeks might have been great for core fans and rap nerds, but I don't think it was very good marketing/business move
Jun 12, 2017 Do you mean rap fans or just people in general? For rap fans its kinda weird indeed. As for people who dont really care for rap still a few songs off it could be pretty popular
Jun 12, 2017 Not really that surprising. J Cole goes platinum over and over yet I've never met a single person who has bought one of his albums.
Jun 12, 2017 That's what I'm saying: this album had quite a few songs that are such no-brainers for the radio, yet mask off is the song that blew up, somehow.
Jun 13, 2017 I think casuals will be less aware of it it, yeah. One thing I've learned like with friends and stuff is people don't follow artists as closely as us. They hear new music when the radio plays it.
Jun 13, 2017 well mask off is easssssily for radio and it definitely stands out on future as far as hndrxx, fresh air/selfish/my collection seem like obvious single choices to me. i’d say mostttt people actually do know there were two albums dropped but sort of group both as one big project by default and because mask off was the song that took off, is why it feels as if hndrxx is invisible but we can blame that on future also cause as far as i’m concerned he hasn’t pushed almost any song on hndrxx at all
