Aug 25, 2017 Ahead of his headline gigs at Reading and Leeds festivals this weekend, Eminem played to a huge crowd of 35,000 people at Glasgow's Bellahouston Park last night. Never one to shy away from controversy, the rapper wore a t-shirt bearing the words 'Fack Trump', though made it clear that was a deliberate misspelling with a tirade against the current US President. "Scotland, you might have to be our new home because right now s--- ain't going so well in the States," he boomed to the crowd. "I just wanna take this moment out right now and say motherfuck Donald Trump." He then launched into a fiery rendition of 'White America', from his 2002 album, The Eminem Show. It was part of a long, 33-song set in which Eminem - real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III - pulled out hits such as 'My Name Is', 'The Real Slim Shady' and 'Stan', the 2002 super-hit which featured backing vocals from Dido and subsequently helped launch her solo career. The rapper also played a number of covers - Drake's 'Forever,' B.O.B's 'Airplanes Part II' and 'The Hills (Remix)' by The Weeknd. He also played 'Fast Lane', a song by Bad Meets Evil, the hip-hop duo consisting of Eminem and Royce da 5′9″. Despite terrible weather, fans were queuing up in the early morning many hours before doors opened for the show, which featured support from American hip-hop super duo Run The Jewels, Detroit rapper Danny Brown and emerging New Jersey rapper Russ. Eminem was hip-hop legend Dr Dre's prodigy and shot to fame with the release of second album The Slim Shady LP in 1999. The following year, he released The Marshall Mathers LP, which has gone on to sell over 32 million copies worldwide and helped turn Eminem into the best-selling hip-hop artist of all time. This weekend will be the rapper's third time headlining Reading and Leeds. He first did so in 2001, and then again in 2013. Festival boss Melvin Benn issued a statement, saying: "Eminem returning to Reading and Leeds is beyond exciting. His 2013 headline performance was incredible and I can't want to have him back." Eminem appears at Reading tomorrow (Saturday) and Leeds on Sunday, topping the bill alongside other headliners Kasabian and Muse.
