People been saying this is maybe the best album in a decade or so—only Fiona Apple I've heard is Tidal—should I dive right into the new one right away or go chronologically? Or is the there a better starting point?

Was thinkin bout going straight into the new one, then going back chronologically from the beginning.

Either way is fine, but you can't lose either way.

this album is a masterpiece in every way, tops circles for me as album of the year (so far)

d--- Fiona came with bars this time smhhhh

her discography is good enough that I don’t really think there’s a wrong answer. I’d say avoid Extraordinary Machine as an entry point because it’s probably her weakest (but still good)

Is this the one where there’s two entirely diff versions? And die hard fans debate the superior version? Def more of deep cut not entry level

Didn't think she could have topped The Idler Wheel, this was truly a phenomenal experience!

Gonna sit with it longer before I say something even more magnanimous, but it's practically the album Fiona Apple was destined to make at some point in her lifetime.

I thought the first few posts were trolling at first...mf’ing Fiona? I haven’t heard her name in years. Hype to give a spin

Finally listened to this, and yeah it's really good. Surprising sounds and melodies, and probably golden replay value. "Rack of His" is quite the masterpiece.

that pitchfork review is so lazy lol
the album is so much more than a post-me too record against "toxic masculinity" ; it's personal, powerful and musically very, very inventive in lots of ways that a music writer should try to explain and put in perspective
