Gay parades

    The reason I make this thread is that I talked with someone (my nephew) a few days ago who is married to a man for years.

    He said: " I'm married to a guy. But other than that, I live a normal life. No weird stuff, just a regular job, people never judge me for it.

    Gay parades just make people look at gay people different. f---ing idiots walking around in pink underwear acting like complete morons only make people think 'yes, gay people are totally different and not normal compared to us'. It only makes the image people have us worse. To an extent"

    Honestly, I kinda get what he means. I'm not saying people shouldn't try to get attention for discrimination against them, but I get that parades do put them in a box instead of letting them blend in.

    Also @El Ares for bringing this subject up a few days ago.. its ok

    Idk if they do this where you live but in SF we have something called "pride" every year. It's basically a huge festival/parade for the LGBTQ community. Everyone goes out and parties, it's fun af tbh.

    Thousand's of gays partying means lots of HIV patients running the street's. Sounds dangerous to the public.

    It's not an airborne contagion so I'm not sure that it's a risk to the general public.

    I know it's not airborne but it's Def a risk. We shouldn't let HIV patient gather and potentially affect someone. You can't say it's not a possibilty

    One of gay members said himself they all gather and party. Party turns to drinking.. maybe sharing it with someone.. spitting.. accidental blood exchange. Youre saying it''s not possible?

    Well a cut isn't going to transmit the HIV virus if that's hat you're saying. Sex would increase the risk assuming its unprotected but that's true in most instances. If you have unprotected sex you put yourself at risk of contracting an std.

    Well homosexuality is only just being accepted as of recent in terms of marriage, so parades etc are necessary to show the homophobic/naïve that being gay is normal

    God knows how long it would take for homosexuality to be accepted as the norm by everyone & integrated into society w/o the need for parades to get the message across

    Yes a cut would transfer the virus. It's a fact. Going to a gay parade is taking a huge risk. Or even just passing by.

    The HIV virus does not live outside of the body for a very long time. So the chances of you contracting the virus from a cut is extremely improbable.
