How did Lord Jamar get mentioned in Kamikaze over Rick Ross and Gucci Mane?

I know we all dislike Lord Jamar and his provocative remarks definitely deserved a response.

But why did Em gloss over Ross and Gucci on Kamikaze and all of his albums?
Especially Ross. It's not like they retracted their comments or anything.

Ross ended 50 Cent's music career(Maybe not end it but did the most damage to it, especially with the Revenge p--- lawsuit), openly dissed Eminem several times, and Trick Trick tried to ban Ross from performing in Detroit.

And Gucci Mane dissed the dog s--- out of Eminem on a song with Mariah too.

I just don't get it. Neither are top tier emcees. They're not powerful moguls like Jay or Diddy. Ross is a phony gangster with no street ties and Gucci's street ties are exaggerated. And they're both infinitely more popular and musically relevant than Jamar ever was.

So, why didn't Em name drop them and respond to their disses on Kamikaze? It should have been a piece of cake to him since a lot of the songs directly addressed his critics and haters.

As an Em fan, I enjoyed the album no doubt but that aspect of it left me completely dumbfounded. Even 50 never responded to Gucci's diss and we all know how petty he is...lol.

I dont think Em gives a f--- about Ross. Probably thinks it's a joke that he dissed him.

I dont know why he doesn't go at Gucci. I'd like to know that myself. Gucci is very meh as a rapper but he is probably the most gangster rapper. Maybe Em doesn't want Gucci to try to come k--- him or something, idk.

We don’t all hate Lord Jamar. His contributions to Hip Hop as part of Brand Nubian are major. Just because people heard of him in the last few years because of some Vlad YouTube Hot Takes doesn’t change that fact. Jamar is a 5 Percenter. Everything he says is pretty much how they see the world and 5 Percent ideology is a huge part of Hip Hop history, whether you agree with it or not.

Eminem, especially in recent years, has tried his best to show respect to the artists he grew up listening to. He’s spoken to them in interviews, spoken about them and you see it in the t-shirts he wears. He’s constantly wearing shirts that feature Golden Age Hip Hop album covers. Em also famously referenced years ago that he used to dress up in African apparel during Hip Hop’s Afrocentric phase, Brand Nubian being a major part of that phase. If it weren’t for his beef with Jamar, he would probably have on Brand Nubian t-shirts in public. He’s very much aware of their importance as a group overall. So while he dissed Jamar he still came back and confirmed that he was a guest in Hip Hop like Jamar had stated (the Crooked I/Em interview).

I don’t know why he doesn’t respond to some of these other rappers but I think on some level, because he’s a “Hip Hop Head”, he’s had to give these mixed responses to Jamar’s comments, dissing him but also confirming some of his comments. Almost hedging his bets, so that he doesn’t bow down to a legend but also agrees with him to some degree. I think Jamar’s impact means more to Em personally than Gucci or Rick. Em had to be a Brand Nubian fan growing up based on his age, knowledge of Hip Hop and the things he’s said in the past. So while Jamar doesn’t mean a whole lot to people nowadays, there was a time when he was one of the top artists in the industry and that was the same time that Em was an impressionable, young fan. Eminem grew up listening to Golden Era Hip Hop artists. They ultimately mean more to him than more recent artists.

Ross dissed em in 2009 or 2010 and apologized, so there’s that. Also Ross didn’t do s--- to 50 career Ross definitely lost that beef. Now w I don’t have no excuse for Gucci tho

Well ross kinda took back his shots against Em in 2010
As such, earlier today while walking the red carpet Ross had nothing but praise for Shady, whose performance he watched during VMA rehearsals.

"I actually had a chance to sit through the whole rehearsal yesterday man and got to watch Eminem rehearse and perform for the first time," Ross said. "You know, I gotta salute him, I gotta take my hat off. He's a dope lyricist, actually seeing him in person brought his rhymes that much more alive to me. I'm actually looking forward to seeing Eminem do his thing."

Ross definitely won. The beef helped Ross way more than it hurt him and launched him even further into the limelight and he'd continue to dominate rap for the next few years while 50 as a musical artist continued to fade away. No one actually cared that he was a CO beyond the hiphopDX comment section lol.
