Sep 4, 2017 "Building a PC is too complicated" It's far simpler than it used to be. Now, it's just about picking the right parts, attaching them together, screwing them onto the case and putting the cables in the ports. There's plenty of build guides online and videos on Youtube. Anyone who has a basic degree of intelligence and a few hours of time can do it. "PC's have more problems" With a built PC, it's easier to identify the problem. PC's can be repaired and maintained by the user without need to ship overseas. PC's are modular and easier to disassemble. PC parts come with a warranty (while console parts don't). No dealing with customer service or paying a premium for specialized parts. "PC's are not living room friendly" Mini builds can fit in a minimalist TV setup. Wireless controllers are more viable than ever. Wireless small form factor mice and keyboards are available too. Steam has a reasonable console interface nowadays. PC's enjoy far better streaming quality than consoles. "PC's need to be upgraded" Upgrading is optional. Superior performance to a console can be attained without an upgrade. Games are mostly graphical, so the only that that truly needs to be upgraded for gaming performance is the graphics card. Consoles already use low-end parts (apart from the graphics) so, for example, a $110 CPU right now will perform way better than PS4's and likely at part with the PS5's. "Consoles are cheaper" Yes, if you're buying a console and that's it. If youre buying a few consoles per generation, no. If you're buying online memberships year to year, no. Steam sales and torrenting makes PC cheaper overall. Plus the fact that PC can do a whole bunch of other things such as photoshop, video editing, music mixing/composition, school/work browsing.
Sep 4, 2017 I've done both, but I prefer console though because that's where all my gaming friends and family play. It's not a matter of performance or functionality for me.
Sep 4, 2017 Loled at the OP post. Why is it always about a competition PC vs console? Just do what you like. I've been enjoying my current TV/PC setup. Best of both worlds. I can browse the interwebs from the confort of my couch using a wireless keyboard and mouse and i'll use an xbox controller when playing games. It's been over a year now and I wouldn't go back to my old computer screen and desk setup.
Sep 4, 2017 TV/PC set-up is the future Seriously, there is no need for cable when you have netlix and have your computer hooked up to your tv and can browse all the s--- you want sitting comforably in your couch. The only disadvantage is that you can't really play any strategy games or things that require strictly a keyboard and mouse.
Sep 4, 2017 Just wanted to add to this that, if you are intimidated by building one, there are many sites that build them for you (though for a price), or better yet, find second-hand ones through your craigslist. I got such a nice mid-range build in perfect condition from someone in my area. $400. I sold my PS4 for it because I knew it would have better lasting power. I understand everyone prefers one thing or another and that's cool. I still own a Switch for the exclusives and portability, and I think that cost is justified. But it is worth considering if the reasons you prefer console today still hold up as well as they might have a decade or even 5 years ago.
Sep 5, 2017 f--- all that I just wanna plug in and play from my bed I ain't gonna play on a pc screen or hook up my f---ing pc monitor to my tv. And what kind of a broke a--- fa---- do you have to be to not be able to afford a new gen console every 5-10 years? And how autistic do you have to be to prefer a small pc monitor over a 50 inch tv because the pixels look better? How much of a virgin do you have to be to notice such minor differences anyway consoles > pc
Sep 5, 2017 how is it minor differences...? way better graphics and performance, steam is literally 10 years ahead of xbox live and ps store...misc things that make pc gaming superior like mods and being able to change graphical options, multi screens, literally too many things to list... coming from someone who has played ps1, ps2, ps3, and ps4 and has a gaming pc
Sep 5, 2017 show me visual evidence of way better graphics I have an OLED tv and couldn't see much of a difference when I hooked my pc to it
Sep 5, 2017 all useless bs why can't you just play a game instead of using mods like a sad c----. Why the f--- do you want multiple screens. I'm sure the other "too many to list things" are just as r-----ed
Sep 5, 2017 @Alchemist34 you have no clue what you're talking about....heres witcher 3 left is pc...looks significantly better. console is locked at 30fps, witcher on pc can be played around 60fps by most high end rigs and still look a lot better... that is not bs, that is significant difference when you can play a game at 30 fps compared to 60. it is noticeable period
Sep 5, 2017 Cosign. I built my PC around 2 years ago and I love it. As long as you can troubleshoot the technical issues (I overclocked my CPU), it's a much better option
