Nov 22, 2017 Post Malone’s perspective on hip-hop is under fire. The rapper-singer has caused an uproar of criticism after saying that hip-hop is not for those who are “looking for lyrics” or “real s---.” Speaking with Poland’s NewOnce, White Iverson discussed his stance on rap. “If you’re looking for lyrics, if you’re looking to cry, if you’re looking to think about life, don’t listen to hip-hop,” he said. “There’s great hip-hop songs where they talk about life and they spit that real s---, but right now, there’s not a lot of people talking about s---. “Whenever I want to cry,” he continued, “whenever I want to sit down and have a nice cry, I’ll listen to some Bob Dylan. But whenever I’m trying to have a good time and stay in a positive mood, I listen to hip-hop because it’s fun. I think hip-hop is important because it brings people together in a beautiful, happy way. Everybody’s happy.” More: http://www.rap-up.com/2017/11/21/post-malone-criticized-for-comments-on-hip-hop/
Nov 22, 2017 Rap isn't my first choice if I wanna cry but it definitely can evoke that even if it is in the minority BUT ANYWAY POST MALONE IS A f---ing CAC
Nov 22, 2017 It's a bit different with this. Hip hop's origin is quite lyric orientated. Also with guys like this if they say they don't care about lyrics they don't have much of a comeback when people call them hacks with no talent because if they'r not working hard on the lyrics they'r sure as h--- not putting much effort in the other elements of the music. Most of these guys don't produce or anything
Nov 22, 2017 Dumb as h--- and I won't be able to take anything he says seriously now. I wonder how much hip hop he's actually listened to if he really feels that way.
Nov 22, 2017 I get that. It's just never really made much sense to me given how generic or typical most lyrics are in just about any genre, including hip hop. I mean, a lot of vocalists in general don't write their lyrics, and I don't give a s--- about that. So someone just doing w.e with their content isn't a bad mark by my book. I'm not interested in whether or not they're putting their a-game into the "content" of their lyrics or w.e. I don't really see why most people care about that when it comes to music. It's music, the focus should be on how it sounds musically. And that is absolutely an area of focus that they can work on via their voice/delivery/flow etc., even if they're phoning it in lyrically or not producing their own s---.
Nov 22, 2017 Lol who cares get a.life you f---ing nerds enjoy his music for what it is or don't enjoy it either way why let it upset you lmao
Nov 22, 2017 I'm talking more in the extreme sense that this attitude plus literally just saying "lets get lit" over someone elses beat doesn't give you much of a comeback when people call you a hack. I'm not saying post malone does that but imo its a dumb as s--- attitude in some ways and comment to make
Nov 22, 2017 lol if anybody can say this it's definitely not post melon! why you doing interviews when you have first song in the country! stfu post
Nov 22, 2017 i'm fairly sure by hip hop all he meant was trap, and i think he would be totally right about that. barely anything (or at least anything i know of) is emotional in trap, and the whole "emo" hip hop thing that isn't emo in any way and consists of regular trap with occasional psuedo-conscious lines and hamfisted lines about suicide doesn't mean anything
Nov 22, 2017 Even though I like 21 savage and Post Malone I wish they’d keep their ignorance to themselves.
