All the big artists drop an album every 5 years now actin mysterious and s---. And when the album drops it is f---ing mid. Drake is constantly dropping but he is hit or miss with his last few projects. f--- carti, ocean, travis and rocky and all those artists that rip off their fans by letting them wait for their s--- albums. Respect to them rappers that drop every year and still make good music.

Fax. It’s so hard to find rappers these days who drop often but not too often. People like Drake and YB be dropping like every 6 months or sooner and it ends up being a mixed bag meanwhile other mfs take years and it can also end up being a mixed bag, a masterpiece, or complete dogshit.

If the new Carti, Uzi, Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, etc. albums end up being a--- imma be so pissed. Mfs need to realize that just because you spend an eternity on your music doesn’t mean it’s gonna be good

Well you can always use those drought phases and try to explore other artists or even genres. I don't understand people who can't wait for the same three rappers to drop. There is so much good stuff out there tbh. Just gotta do some digging.

Tried it but it’s literally fast food music. Used spotify to explore more rap artists they are all clones from the big guys

That’s true but nobody here wants to dig, they want it all handed to them, but then they never like what’s handed to them. It’s like the majority of people here don’t give a f--- about ANY artist who blew up post 2018. All the new artists threads get no traction. If it’s not Eminem, J. Cole, or Kanye it’s probably not getting much attention here. A lot of people here are stuck in their ways and want things to sound the way they did when they were kids.

Yeat is good and has created a new sound. Then there are maybe the opium guys after that its gettin thin. Who are the new guys that can impact rap in a way the big guys did before besides a yeat?

It’s just because people only give popular artists the time of day. We’re in the most discoverable era in music don’t waste it!

Baby Keem is a heavy-hitter imo. Lil Baby and Polo G although their music isn’t the best right now. If Jack Harlow releases a better album he could be the next white rapper other white people copy. Female oriented rap is also becoming bigger and bigger. If Ice Spice keeps going she could be on top. Coi Leray unironically been putting out hits lately. Other than that I can’t think of anybody right now who’s gonna be a star and impact rap like the big guys. Mavi, Saba, redveil are some good newer lyrical ish rappers.

TikTok rap is a problem too. COVID and artists making music for TikTok is contributing heavily to this drought. The oversaturation of music is making it harder for stars to emerge. Everybody and their grandmother makes music now. Almost nobody sells the way they used to.

I wasn’t referring to you in that post btw. It’s just I be recommending lyrical rappers to guys who ask me for lyrical rappers and they are never satisfied. It’s annoying

Lil Baby and Ice Spice are huge and they are gonna be remembered for sure. Not sure about keem and polo g they kinda are hit or miss even tho they are new. Not a good sign. Roddy rich was also someone where everybody said he is the next big thing but he fell off after his debut what a shame

Not even remotely true but if you cut off the pipeline to thousands of smaller artists without machine backing then you can’t complain about coming to the predicament you have in the OP

    Only yourself to blame man!

Name the artists that you think are on a level like the big ones (i dont mean sales or hype). Show me some underground artists that are not dusty or are clones

I said this in another thread and people who are agreeing with you here were acting like i was crazy.
Rap IS in a quiet phase. And im not talking about the last 10 years. Im talking about the last 2-3 years. Even the greatests rappers from 2010s are dropping mids albums. I guess is just matter of time to the new generation to explode.
