On Thursday I’m starting a somewhat leisurely drive from Seattle to Austin, TX. I say somewhat leisurely cuz I’m not taking the most direct route there and I’m gonna kinda play it by ear and do what I feel, but I do have a day I need to be there by.

Gonna stop and visit some fam in Denver on the way there and friends in Albuquerque on the way back (so different routes both ways). Other than that my plans aren’t really set in stone.

Are Kansas City and Oklahoma City worth stopping through? Any smaller towns or cities I might not know or think to stop through? Any cool drives or national parks or monuments or historical sites or anything? I’m talkin basically anywhere west of Arkansas/Missouri/Iowa and south of Montana and the dakotas (the furthest east I was thinking of going was maybe KC or the ozarks cuz you start to get too far out of the way of Austin beyond that).

Also any podcast/music/audiobook recs are greatly appreciated. Thanks y’all.

I’ve been to KC a bunch but it’s nothing special. I’ve heard lots of good things about OKC. Stay as far away from the Midwest as you can though lol.

I'll likely be coming thru from OKC or from round where arkansas, Oklahoma, and TX meet.

I've driven through Texas a couple times...once up from NOLA and through shreveport to Dallas, and then from Dallas through Amarillo to ABQ. The other time I was coming from ABQ and went down through San Antonio and then to Padre Island/Corpus Christie and then back up to Austin. And I've been to Austin and the surrounding areas like five times (also: Schlitterbahn). Still have yet to go to Houston though, but I don't think I'll have time to get down that far south cuz I'ma be cutting it close getting into Austin as is.

Some day I'll make it down to yall's city (s/o @Skippy and @KnowRayJones)

Houston is fun cus the museum of fine arts is only a brisk 10 minute walk away from the local m--- house. Whole town looks like something a dog f---er like @joeyp363 made on simcity 3000

That’ll be a nice drive. Stop at a Buc-ee’s if you haven’t in any of your previous trips. Although if you’ve been through Texas a few times I’m sure you have already done that.

What do you think of Texas’ natural scenery?

I think houston is one of the only major cities with no zoning laws. Makes for some interesting neighborhoods tho

I was mainly referring to upscale parts of town being only blocks away from crack houses. Houston does have interesting neighborhoods though.

I forget if it's 4th ward but one of those hoods has a house with a huge 4 story parking garage in its backyard and then a random taco cabana in between two houses :laff: s----s the funniest looking street ever
