I was thinking about this today when I got an ad for some cheap gaming website, music's essentially free now whether it's streaming it on soundcloud, youtube, spotify etc. or pirating it you can literally get any album you want for free. As far as film goes Netflix/Hulu is essentially the same thing but with a small fee per month like Tidal/Spotify premium. I think Hulu used to be free if I'm not wrong, anyway do you think there's ever going to be a service that lets you play any game you want for free or a small fee/ad's etc. I know both EA/Microsoft are trying out there 'Game Pass' thing but it's not nearly as popular as the other services are. Not to mention Fortnite is the most hyped game of the year and it's free. One of the most played games is DOTA 2, and that's free. Just seems like the next logical step.

it's already happening with movies is my point. Gaming's the main thing im talkin bout altho i think it would be dope to have brand new movies come out that you pay a small fee for. s--- even just being able to watch a movie for ticket price from the comfort of your bedroom would be dope

I was talking about this same thing with my friends the other day, but i'll make two different points.

It's true the music industry has shifted in terms of where artists get their revenue from, but they make up for it in other areas such as merchandise and touring.

It's too soon to tell if the gaming industry can do this. It's actually kind of backfiring in their face with these game developers keep trying to put micro transactions into every game. No one's going to pay for a game and keep paying for a game that's not going to improve or bring in more content at a steadier rate. That's why PC games have console games beat a lot of times when it comes to "pay to play" because of the constant updates and dedication to their services and servers. Prime example is World of Warcraft. I can't knock console games too much. Smite is one of my favorite games on PS4 and it's completely free. Micro transactions exists, but you're not forced to get them to have an advantage in the game.

With the exposure the gaming industry is getting lately, it would be advantageous of game developers to chill out with these micro transactions (f--- Destiny II) and look into games that are branching out to other platforms of revenue such as streaming events, merchandise and sponsorhips.

I hope I was on topic with my response lol.

Out of all these entertainment industries though, I don't think any of them solely rely on the people's equity. If I have a product or platform of entertainment i'm trying to provide, best believe i'm going to branch out for other way to bring in revenue whether it be merchandise, investments, sponsorhips, endorsements, etc.

Sony has pretty much made it pay to play with PSN services, but there's a lot of perks with it. Free indie games, discounts, etc.

Yeah Fortnite does the same s--- and as far as I can tell so do games like Counter Strike where paying for items is purely for looks and doesn't actually improve anything game wise. Although it could be argued darker suits in fortnite help hide you better but I think thats being a b---- abt it

Also, shout out to Monster Hunter Worlds. The only game they not shi--ing on is Fortnite. Both free games and fun as h--- to play.

Game developers and critics were saying these two games were going to fail with the way they were putting out free updates and content.

Did the price drop? It really doesn't need to. You actually get what you pay for, and no season pass required. All updates and DLC are free.

It's a great game. Highly recommended. Japanese folks call it "god of all games". My wife told me that lol.
